Aromatica Rosemary Scalp Scrub Review

Updated: Mar 3, 2021

Hair care is one of my favorite topics. Healthy, beautiful hair starts with a healthy scalp. We regularly exfoliate the face (at least I hope everyone does this), but the scalp gets forgotten. Even the most basic hair products - shampoo, conditioner, and an occasional mask - accumulate on the scalp, clog pores, prevent the hair from growing properly and can lead to breakage and dullness. People who are into mousses, hair spray, and dry shampoo suffer even more. I’m guilty of an occasional burst of dry shampoo myself.

I’ve recently ordered several products by the brand Aromatica. This is a new to me brand of organic and natural cosmetics. Among my purchases was Aromatica Rosemary Scalp Scrub. The scrub is formulated with sea salt from Israel, oregano and rosemary. It’s a very interesting product with a shampoo-like texture and specs of salt inside. It's sold on eBay, Amazon, and YesStyle (use reward code KBHOBBIT for extra savings).

The scrub cleanses the scalp, removes product and oil buildup and promotes circulation.

How to use:

  • Apply to a damp scalp before shampooing

  • Massage gently until the salt particles dissolve (add more water if needed)

  • Rinse with warm water

  • Shampoo, if desired (not necessary for all hair types. I have an oily scalp so I shampoo after)

  • Finish your hair routine as usual (conditioner, etc)

The scrub can be used 2-3 times a week. It all depends on your hair and scalp types and your styling habits. I wash my hair every other day or every two days and use the scrub once a week, sometimes twice. It washes off quite easily as the remaining salt particles dissolve in water. There’s no residue.

My impressions:

This is a lovely product to include in your hair routine. The ingredients list is “green”/non toxic as defined by the Environmental Working Group (EWG). There are no parabens, silicones, or animal products.

The scent is refreshing, not very strong. The mint components give a cooling sensation to the skin. I love it, but a word of caution - when you rinse the scrub off, try to avoid having the water run down your face. The minty coolness is great on the scalp, but not so much on the eyelids.

I know pores and skin cannot “breathe”, but it really feels like the scalp can do that after using Aromatica Rosemary Scalp Scrub. There’s a fantastic sensation of cleanliness and freshness, with a slight minty cool. My oily roots stay clean longer after using this product. It’s worth a try. The manufacturer also states that it can help with dandruff. I can’t speak to that as I do not have a flaky scalp. If you’d like more hair care reviews, read them here.
