Purito Centella Green Level All In One Mild Pad Review

Updated: Oct 24, 2020

Not that long ago, in high school, I had some skin issues - forehead pimples, for example. And back then I bought some round peeling pads at Target (Clean&Clear or Biore, maybe?) that smelled awful and dried out my skin. Since then, I’ve been scared to try anything like it and stayed away from them. But, as you already know, I have a love affair with Purito products. I was ecstatic when I had almost every product from their limited (at the time) line. But then they released new things, and several at once!

The pads are available on eBay and Amazon.

The discs are large and textured on one side. Their purpose is to provide a mild peeling effect and remove any remaining impurities from the skin that oil and foaming cleansers may have missed. As the title suggests, they are mild and suitable even for daily use (I use mine every other day or once every three days). Even right now, when my skin tends to get dry, this product doesn’t irritate it.

The formula contains BHA (Betaine Salicylate), which helps exfoliate/remove dead skin cells. Centella Asiatica extract supports the skin’s natural barrier function and helps normalize oil production. The Centella Asiatica concentration here is 10%, and the manufacturer states that other companies often use more diluted formulations. But this is my first product like this, so I can’t speak to that. Centella Asiatica also stimulates collagen production and calms irritation and inflammation.

Other ingredients:

- Asiatic acid - has an antioxidant effect, strengthens skin’s barrier, soothes sensitive skin.

- Asiaticoside - controls oil-water balance and supports collagen production.

- Madecassic acid - helps restore damaged and tired skin and helps heal acne scars and other marks.

- Tea tree oil - a well-known antimicrobial and soothing ingredient.

The pads are suitable for other troubled zones (including your buns hehe) and can soften rough knees and elbows. Supposedly, they are so mild that they can even be used to remove eye makeup, but I steer clear of acids on my eyelids and use them just the “normal” way - to exfoliate the face.

The jar contains 70 large discs and a small set of tweezers for hygienic removal.

How to use:

1. Swipe over clean face with the textured side first, avoiding eyes and lips.

2. Turn over and repeat, using the smooth side.

3. Proceed with the rest of your skincare routine. The box says these will work as a toner as well, and perhaps in the summer that’s true, but right now while the heat is still on, I use another hydrating toner on top to combat the dryness.

I REALLY like the effect. The skin becomes brighter and smoother right away. I see no drying or tightening effects, which is great. I even think that my overnight brightening mask works better after using the pads. The skin is also softer and smoother to the touch. The product has a pleasant citrus-like smell; the aroma doesn’t linger. I use them either before bed (most often) or if we are going somewhere and I need my makeup to look extra spiffy (and a smooth base makes for a better makeup experience). Even my BB cream goes on better after using these.

The packaging states “EWG Green Level Ingredients”. What does that mean? EWG Skindeep Database is a gold mine of information on cosmetic ingredients. You can search by product name or a specific component and it will give you a toxicity rating from 1 to 10. The higher the number, the more harmful/toxic the ingredient is. Cosdna uses a similar rating. All safe ingredients are marked with a green label, and Purito proudly says that all of theirs are marked as safe in the EWG database. To me, that is very important. My family is careful about toxins in our lives, in food and otherwise, so if a product is safe AND effective, it’s a win with me.

Overall, I’m satisfied yet again with a Purito product. I wouldn’t mind if they came out with other skincare things like patches, masks, and lotions.

And another thing - the box has cute comics on the inside with all the different ways to use the pads. My personal favorite is #4 - “be a good son or daughter and give your parents massage” :)
