Hair has always been a hot topic for me. I dream of luscious red curls down to my hips. Instead, I have fine, straight, blonde hair. Yay…
Back in 2019, I donated most of it to a charity. And in April of 2021, I got sick of the length again and had about 6-7 inches chopped off over the weekend. Naturally, I am now going to spend the next couple of years growing it back. It’s the circle of liiiiiiife (cue in Lion King soundtrack).
There’s no point in growing out unhealthy hair, so I try to do the best I can to keep it in good shape. This month, I’ve been using Whamisa Organic Seeds Hair Essence. It can be purchased from Credithink on Amazon, and my affiliate discount code kbhobbit10 gives you a discount on their entire Amazon storefront. Credithink is a reliable vendor with only authentic products.
Whamisa Organic Seeds Hair Essence promises silky, conditioned hair with increased elasticity. It’s made using natural fermentation without mineral oils and animal products. A full list of ingredients is included at the end of the review.
How to use:
Apply to damp, clean hair, focusing on damaged area
Style as usual (I let mine air dry)
I focus on the ends. My hair is not damaged, but I want to avoid any potential future damage to the tips, especially since I am growing it out.
The essence has the consistency of thin emulsion. It’s very easy to apply. A little goes a long way - I got a little too excited the first time and my hair ended up looking like I put gel in it - all the strands were super defined. Now I just do a tiny bit and still reap the benefits.
Like all of the other #Whamisa products I’ve tried, this hair essence has a very pronounced herbal scent. I actually like it, and after using this for several weeks, I actually do not notice the smell as much. My husband, however, doesn’t care for it and always asks “what is this smell?” (I see this as payback for his Old Spice shower gel that stinks up the bathroom for hours and hours).
My impressions
This is such an interesting product, and I have mixed feelings. For the last year or two, I’ve been using light hair oils - watch this video for my full hair routine. This is totally different - too much and the hair gets stiff and almost crunchy looking (but no breakage) or oily. Yet if I use only a little, then I have hair that is more manageable and even holds a wave better. I do not heat style my hair, but I often braid it. And when it was longer, I did notice that the post-braid waves held better if I used the hair essence.
I think this would be absolutely fantastic for people with damaged, over-processed, dry hair. It almost feels like it could hold fragile strands together and prevent futher breakage. I really wish I had this back in 2016 after a failed perm (no curl but aaaaaaalll the damage). So, if you are someone with fragile hair and don’t mind a strong herbal scent, give this a try.
I am definitely going to keep using this until it’s out, but I am not sure that I would repurchase, at least not with my current hair condition.
