I looooove cleansing oils. If I had to pick the most necessary skincare step, I’d pick sunscreen. But if I were picking my most enjoyable one, I’d go for oil cleansing. What can be more relaxing than gently dissolving and washing away all the makeup, SPF, and stress of the day before bed? It’s pure bliss. Of course, not all cleansing oils are created equal, which is why I enjoy trying new ones and telling my readers about the good and the bad.
VVBETTER is a new to me brand of Korean skincare that creates “lightweight products for daily use”. The name of the brand originates from “very very better”, promising to improve the skin with every use. If you are as confused as I was about pronunciation, it’s “vee vee better”.
VVBETTER Gentle Deep Cleansing Oil, available on Amazon, is one of the brand’s best sellers. It’s a gentle cleanser made with 21 plant-derived oils to remove impurities and excess sebum. The company advertises it as suitable for all skin types. Other marketing claims include improvement in brightening and skin tone, but I do not look for those benefits in a wash off cleanser. If it’s doing something for my pigmentation - great; I consider that a bonus.
How to use
Gently massage over dry face with clean, dry hands
Add a bit of water and massage more - the oil will emulsify
Rinse off
Follow with a foaming cleanser and the rest of your routine
The oil is pleasantly thick (but not too thick) with no detectable scent. It’s very easy to use and rinses cleanly, without causing dryness or irritation. I use this in the evenings as part of my daily routine.
In addition to cleansing and nourishing oils, the formula features soothing artemisia absinthium and centella asiatica extracts. A full list of ingredients is provided at the end of the article.
My impressions
I can see why VVBETTER Gentle Deep Cleansing Oil is one of the brand’s best sellers. I’m honestly surprised more people aren’t talking about it - probably because the company is somewhat new. The oil is wonderful - as promised; it’s gentle but effective. I’ve been using this regularly for weeks, both on no-makeup and heavier makeup days. It always does a great job removing everything. I don’t own waterproof makeup, but everything I use comes off just fine with VVBETTER.
Because of the thicker texture, it only takes 1-2 small pumps to cleanse my entire face and neck. Even though I’ve had the oil for weeks, I’m not even halfway done with the bottle.
And can we talk about the gorgeous bottle? Sure, packaging has nothing to do with the product’s efficacy, but it definitely brings me lots of joy. I highly recommend trying this oil if you are in the market for a first step cleanser. 10/10!
