Touch in Sol Icy Sherbet Primer Review

Touch in Sol Icy Sherbet Primer, available on Amazon, Stylevana (code INF10KBH), and eBay promises to instantly cool, hydrate, and prep the skin for makeup. It is silicone and oil free and features a special technology to lock in moisture.

How to use:

  • Apply before bb cream / foundation (make sure your SPF layer is dry / set)

The primer comes in a twist top jar and has a noticeable floral scent (which doesn’t stick around for long and doesn’t bother me). At first, it looks like most silicone primers, but doesn’t provide the mattifying look that I’m personally used to. Which makes sense, since the marketing materials promise hydration.

A little dab is enough to cover the entire face. It’s pretty easy to get too much out of the jar; for that reason I would have preferred it in a tube, even though jars definitely look a lot nicer and showcase the product’s color and texture better.

My impressions

I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and dry/normal cheeks. This primer works fine for me under makeup, but I can’t say it’s my holy grail. I like primers that are more mattifying (such as this one) and make my skin velvet-like and oil free. I used to apply a primer before powder, even without any bb creams or foundations, just to have my skin feel nice to the touch and shine free. I tried doing that with this primer and ended up pretty shiny by the end of the day. This might be best suited for people with dry or dehydrated skin.

As far as under makeup, it works fine. Nothing mind blowing, but not bad either. I don’t think I love primers in jars (this is my first one), but that’s not a deal breaker. I do not notice the promised cooling effect, but I wasn’t looking for that in a primer anyway. Overall, I’ll keep using it but wouldn’t go out of my way to acquire it again.
