The Saem was one of my first kbeauty loves. They make some great, affordable products. The Saem Soft Blurring Primer Lip Balm caught my eye since I don’t think I have ever had a lip primer balm before. It’s available on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT) and Stylevana (code INF10KBH). The balm promises long lasting hydration and improved look of makeup.

How to use

  • Apply before lip makeup or anytime throughout the day

The Saem Soft Blurring Primer Lip Balm

The Saem lip primer works best under lipsticks - it makes the lips a better, smoother canvas. To me, it’s not nourishing but also not drying. Calling it a “lip balm” is confusing - in my mind, lip balms are more emollient and are meant to nourish the lips. The Saem primer feels exactly like a mattifying silicone-based face primer does, except on the lips.

I don’t recommend using this with lip glosses, because it makes the whole thing strange. While it helps lipsticks “adhere” to the lips better, it causes the glosses to slide around and seems to affect their color payoff as well.

My impressions

This is an interesting product and I’m glad I tried it, but I will probably not get it again. I’m very  lazy when it comes to makeup. Most days, mascara and lip gloss is already too much effort. Lipstick and primer require a level of mental energy that I do not possess. As far as using it as a lip balm and not a primer - I prefer softer, creamier, more emollient formulas. For me, this is strictly a makeup item.

The Saem Soft Blurring Primer Lip Balm

I love that this product has no taste and stays exactly where I apply it - doesn’t slide / move around. I reach for it every time I apply traditional lipsticks (currently I only have the Catkin one shown in photos). Primer + lipstick is definitely better than lipstick alone. If you love traditional lipsticks, you will likely enjoy The Saem primer.
