SOME BY MI Yuja Niacin Brightening All-In-One Cleanser Review

I enjoyed most of the Some By Mi Yuja Niacin line (the bubble cleanser, serum, and peeling gel), so I thought the brightening cleanser would be a safe choice. I got mine through the YesStyle reviewer program - join here if you want to sample some of their offerings for free as well.

The cleanser is available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), and Stylevana (code INF10KBH). It starts out as a clear gel and then forms into abundant foam, promising to remove everything - even makeup - in one step. The star ingredients are yuja extract and succinic acid plus niacinamide for a gentle brightening cleanse.

How to use

  • Gently massage over damp skin

  • Rinse

  • Follow with the rest of your routine

I couldn’t find “official” use instructions, but this is how I’ve been using my tube. Even though this is advertised as an all-in-one, I prefer to start with a cleansing oil, then utilize Some By Mi Yuja Niacin as a second cleanser. I enjoy the fresh citrus scent, but wouldn’t want to use that on my eyes to remove mascara and eyeliner.

As usual, Some By Mi advertises this as a hypoallergenic formula, even though the ingredients list features fragrance, limonene and linalool - all common allergens. As a reminder, “hypoallergenic” is an unregulated and therefore meaningless term. Each brand can define that however they please, so remember to review ingredients for any known individual issues.

My impressions

Despite my issues with Some By Mi’s marketing, I like quite a few of their offerings. This cleanser is no exception - I enjoy the scent, the soft foam, and the clean feeling without dryness. The only way I would use this as my sole cleanser (without the oil first) is if I washed my face in the mornings, which I don’t. This would be a great morning product because of the refreshing citrus scent.

Overall, it’s definitely worth a try. Someone like my spouse who doesn’t wear eye makeup and doesn’t want a separate oil cleanser to remove SPF will probably love it as a stand alone product.
