Cleansing used to be just a boring, necessary step for me. But ever since discovering kbeauty, it is often my favorite part of the whole routine. One of my current cleansers is Some By Mi Bye Bye Blemish Vita Tox Brightening Bubble Cleanser. Some By Mi Vita Tox cleanser contains Vita Oxygen Bubbles to remove impurities, Goheung Yuja Extract, Jeju Green Tangerine Extract and 18 kinds of vitamins (including vitamin C capsules) to brighten the skin, and konjac granules to gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells.
How to use:
Apply a thin layer to the skin and wait for the bubbles to form
Wait 3-5 minutes while the bubbles do their thing, then rinse
Follow with the rest of your routine
The cleanser has a thick consistency with little granules that can be felt (but are not painful or unpleasant). It smells like bitter citrus (maybe grapefruit or yuja). I personally adore the scent. This will work as a second cleanser in the evening (after an oil cleanser step), or as the only cleanser in the morning. I don’t personally wash my face in the mornings, but other people do.
My impressions
I have a complicated relationship with Some By Mi. Their marketing is often very misleading, saying items are formulated for sensitive skin but packing them full of potentially irritating ingredients and essential oils. I was not impressed with the miracle toner at all (review here). On the other hand, there are some products I absolutely adore, and this cleanser is one of them.
Using Some By Mi Bye Bye Blemish Vita Tox Brightening Bubble Cleanser is such a pleasant experience. It starts with the scent - I love this refreshing citrus smell - it doesn’t linger. The texture is also amazing, and the bubbling action can be fun (although I don’t think it’s any more beneficial than a regular foaming cleanser as far as getting dirt and debris off the skin). The little granules don’t bother me but I also don’t find them necessary. I don’t think there are enough of them to call this product a physical exfoliant, and I’m not sure they add much to the experience. But they are also not a deal breaker.
I love how clean and smooth my skin feels after using this product, without any dryness or irritation.
As with many other Some By Mi products, I doubt this cleanser would work for sensitive skin. One look at the ingredients list reveals some potentially irritating things like plant extracts, fragrance, and limonene. My skin isn’t bothered by any of it, but if you are on the sensitive side, definitely spot test or choose a different product entirely.
I will keep using it and I definitely wish the bottle were larger.
