SKINFOOD Carrot Carotene Calming Water Pads promise to soothe the skin and support a healthy barrier. The toner in the jar is full of nourishing ingredients such as glycerin, olive oil, carrot seed oil, and more. A full list is provided at the end of the article. Carrot toner pads are available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), and Stylevana (code INF10KBH).

How to use

  • Apply to desired areas for 5-10 minutes, then remove

  • Gently pat in the remaining essence

Each pad is a lot thicker and “wetter” than any other toner pad I’ve used. About halfway through my jar, I saw someone online suggest tearing them in two. Not into two semi-circles, but into two thinner circles. Think of it as separating each disc into two layers. This works surprisingly well and makes the toner pads more reasonable in terms of moisture content. Try it both ways and see what you prefer.

My impressions

I think these are great; they are just not for me. I exclusively use toner pads in the morning in lieu of a water rinse. I like them only slightly saturated with toner, preferably something with BHA. They need to sweep away any remnants of my evening routine / excess oil. My combination skin with an oily t-zone doesn’t require lots of nourishment or hydration in the morning. If I use too many steps or products that are too rich, I turn into an oily griddle cake.

Skinfood water pads are juicy, thick, and overflowing with toner containing various oils. They aren’t oily, but they are very much like small sheet masks. It’s not what I’m looking for in my AM routine, and my PM routine doesn’t need this either. If I want a sheet mask, I use a sheet mask.

If you have parched skin in need of all the hydration and care possible, you will probably enjoy these. For me, it’s not a fail but I had to work on incorporating them into my preferred routines. I will not be repurchasing these and if I end up receiving some as PR, I will pass them along to friends with dry skin.
