Rovectin Cica Care Purifying Toner Review

Updated: Mar 28, 2021

Rovectin is a new to me brand that quickly caught my eye. I recently received a few of their products to test. This is the first review of their Cica line. More coming soon - stay tuned.

Rovectin Cica Care Purifying Toner is made for damaged and sensitive skin. It includes a Barrier Repair Complex™ and madecassoside to restore and protect a compromised skin barrier. Madecassoside is a centella asiatica derivative that is commonly used in Korean skincare for acne prone and irritated skin. The toner even promises to reduce the appearance of dark spots and scars. Available here*: Wishtrend, eBay, Amazon, YesStyle (use reward code KBHOBBIT for extra savings), Jolse.

How to use:

  • Apply to clean skin.

  • The official instructions say to use a cotton pad, but I prefer my hands - less friction and less waste.

The clear, watery liquid has a faint herbal scent. Despite including lavender in the ingredients, I do not think the scent is lavender. Either way, it’s barely there. I only noticed it because I brought the product up to my nose on purpose for the review.

My impressions:

This is a good toner for my combination skin that gets an occasional breakout. It’s very light and non-sticky. Sometimes, I use a more hydrating toner on top of it, or follow with the Dr. Cica sheet mask (that review is coming soon!).

I’m a bit surprised that a product made for sensitive, acne prone skin includes essential oils. While a lot of people will get a soothing effect from lavender, there are individuals sensitive to essential oils. For my skin, it works very well.

Centella asiatica, madecassoside, and ceramides are a fantastic power combo to heal and restore skin. I use this toner in combination with other products, so it’s hard to completely isolate its effects, but I do think it helps calm down redness and soothe any pimples. I like the watery, non-sticky texture.
