I am in awe of the innovative Korean beauty industry. Just as I think there’s nothing that could surprise me, some new product category is invented. Today’s review is about one of those products - Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion. It’s sold on Wishtrend, Amazon, and YesStyle (use reward code KBHOBBIT for extra savings).

I now have owned this product more than once and I continue to really enjoy it. The latest version comes with cute animals on the bottle (but the product inside is still the same).

This product is a toner and essence in one (why is it called “lotion”? Mystery). It promises to moisturize the skin deeply while supporting a healthy barrier function. Powerful antioxidants neutralize free radicals, providing anti-aging benefits.

Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion is made without silicones, artificial colors or fragrances, and is vegan friendly and cruelty free.

How to use:

  • Apply after cleansing

  • Gently massage into the skin

The clear substance (I struggle calling it a liquid) is viscous and pretty thick. It will still drip off my palm, but slowly, and is thicker than the thickest toners I’ve had. The closest comparison I can think of is a thin gel. Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion glides easily onto the skin and leaves no sticky residue. I typically follow its application with a moisturizer.

180ml bottle has the classic removable stopper (like most Korean toners). The product is easy to dispense since it’s still more liquid than any other lotions I’ve tried. I really think this deserves a new name of some sort, as it’s unlike any toner, essence, or lotion I've come across.

My impressions:

When I first saw the bottle, I mentally categorized it as “another toner”. But it’s definitely not. I really enjoy using it. Most of the time, I use it exactly as directed - on clean skin - but sometimes I start with a different watery toner for extra hydration.

I especially enjoy the feeling of applying this lotion to the skin. My fingers glide around effortlessly. If I don’t follow with a moisturizer right away, but instead let the product sink into the skin and then touch my cheeks, they are so soft and velvety. It’s a sensory pleasure that is hard to describe.

I can tell the fine lines are plumped up and the skin texture feels more soft and smooth. This is a new product, so I can’t yet speak about long-term effects, but my initial impressions are positive. The lotion is also very gentle, so should work for all skin types.

I’m so excited to see what the masterminds of Korean beauty come up with next.
