Romand makes some of the best lip products I’ve ever tried. The special INAPSQUARE edition of the glasting melting balms caught my eye because of the fun black packaging. The collection is available on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT) and StyleKorean. I chose 17 Berry In Black. Romand promises a juicy, vivid pink shade hidden within black.
Marketing materials mention that Berry in Black is a pH-reactive formula, so the color will look slightly different on everyone depending on their skin. I didn’t know this when I ordered the balm, because Romand did not make that into a focal point the way some other brands do. I’ve had plenty of pH lipsticks before, most of them look clear or light beige (or even blue), then turn into hot pink on the lips. Romand is different.
How to use

I do not use my fingers - the balm works just fine when applied the old boring way straight out of the package. It’s incredibly pleasant on the lips. The color is vibrant and complex, while the formula nourishes the lips and draws attention away from dry patches.
The color is the most interesting in the first hour or so after application. The black eventually wears off, leaving behind a pink stain that’s still quite beautiful but less unusual.
My impressions
I like this so much that I already have a backup stashed away. You just never know when a brand decides to stop producing a special edition item.
Until this melting balm, I mostly shied away from bold lip colors and stuck with tried and true neutrals. But once I saw this beautiful deep berry on my lips, something clicked and I started wearing my other fun lippies a lot more often.
Romand Glasting Melting Balm in Berry Black is the most unique piece of makeup I’ve ever owned. And of course I have and use Clinique’s iconic black honey lipstick, but Romand is even more interesting. The color is so complex and edgy - it speaks to my soul. 10 out of 10 - highly recommend this to anyone. And if you are more into neutrals, the glasting melting balms come in a variety of other shades, most of them a lot more natural looking than this one.
