I used to think of moisturizers as the most boring part of a skincare routine. Perhaps it’s because I moisturized for a long time even before kbeauty entered my life, so creams were not as exciting as all the new serums, peeling gels, and cleansing oils. Now that none of it is new to me, I started appreciating a good moisturizer a lot more.
Pyunkang Yul Intensive Repair Cream, available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Stylevana (code INF10KBH), and StyleKorean, is a rich yet non-sticky moisturizer with a satin finish.
The intensive repair cream contains turmeric root, peony sap and bark, shea butter, peptides and ceramides to nourish the skin and support a healthy barrier function.
How to use
Gently apply at the end of your skincare routine
Pat in for best absorption
Pyunkang Yul Intensive cream has a rich texture yet it’s not oily or uncomfortable. I don’t notice a scent - sometimes fragrance free products still have a smell to them, but not in this case.
My impressions
I might not be the target audience for this moisturizer. It’s nice and rich, but not mind blowing for my combination skin. I like the thicker texture and the nourishment it provides, but overall it’s quite boring / not super special. Plus, the jar is small compared to others on the market. Take this review with a grain of salt, because I had similar thoughts about the Illiyoon ATO Cream until I had issues with my skin barrier and developed a new appreciation for the product.
I used the Pyunkang Yul Intensive Repair Cream for a while, definitely long enough to form an opinion, but ultimately ended up passing it off to a friend’s mom who has dry, mature, and somewhat sensitive skin. I live the life of privilege - my skin can tolerate a variety of formulas, so I am not limited to only using the most gentle, “vanilla” products. Someone with very dry, reactive, or sensitive skin may just find their next holy grail in this moisturizer. Of course, patch testing is a good idea, especially when lots of plant extracts are included in the ingredients.
Overall, I have nothing negative to say about this cream. It didn’t wow me, but I would have finished the jar if I didn’t have all the other options on my counter. It’s worth a try if your skin is very sensitive and isn’t getting the moisture it needs from other products.
