A second cleanser is a very important yet often underappreciated step of the Korean beauty routine (to learn about all of the steps, watch this video). A great foaming wash will effectively cleanse the skin without stripping it or causing irritation.
One of my current favorites is Purito From Green Deep Foaming Cleanser. It was sent to me as a gift and is available for purchase on eBay, Amazon, YesStyle, Stylevana, and Jolse.
Purito From Green Deep Foaming Cleanser is vegan, cruelty free, essential oil and fragrance free, and made without alcohol and with only natural surfactants. Purito’s motto is “Find Your Inner Green”; they are working hard on making safe, vegan-friendly and cruelty free products.
How to use:
Squeeze a small amount into palms
Add a bit of water, work into a lather
Gently massage over the face and neck
Rinse
This cleanser can be used in the morning or at night. If using at night, I use an oil cleanser as the first step (to remove makeup and SPF). I only use Purito foaming wash in the evenings, as I simply rinse my face in the mornings with water.
My impressions
I’ve been enjoying this cleanser almost every night for several weeks now. It’s very pleasant to use - the white “cream” that comes out foams quickly and well. It makes my skin feel clean without being dry or stripped. I hate the “squeaky clean” feeling that I was so desperate for in my teens. Now I know better.
There’s no scent as far as I can tell (some fragrance free products still smell like their ingredients). The bottle is HUGE and it only takes a very small dot of cleanser for the whole face and neck, so I’m afraid to guess how long this will last. Definitely a win for the frugal readers.
The marketing materials do say that this product is good for removing makeup. As a personal preference, I still use a cleansing oil as my first step.
