Purito BHA Dead Skin Moisture Gel Review

Updated: Oct 24, 2020

Acids is a fun skincare topic. Some can’t live without them, while others avoid them out of fear. I do not use very strong acids that exfoliate down to the bone, but seasonally and thoughtfully choose mild ones. One can improve the look of pores and pigmentation with carefully selected products during the Fall and Winter, without causing “acid dependency”. If you are curious about the types of acids and their uses, check out this video.

I’ve been a Purito fan for a long time. But when the Purito BHA Dead Skin Moisture Gel came out, I was pregnant (and BHA isn’t recommended during pregnancy), so I’m just now finally trying it. Right in time for Fall.

The generous tube of clear gel promises to gently exfoliate, soothe, and hydrate the skin while you sleep (and make the pores more clear, too!). The ingredients list features components such as tea tree oil and hyaluronic acid - a full one can be found at the end of this review. The brand states that the gel is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It's available on eBay, Amazon, and YesStyle.

How to use (at night):

  1. Cleanse

  2. Tone

  3. Apply the Purito BHA Dead Skin Moisture Gel, avoiding eye and lip areas

  4. Apply eye cream

  5. That’s it, you are done! Rinse off in the morning (personal suggestion)

My impressions:

It’s no secret that #Purito products work really well for me (except their vitamin C serum, which I’m allergic to). The Purito BHA Dead Skin Moisture Gel is made without added fragrances and thus smells slightly medicinal, probably because of the tea tree oil. It’s very easy to apply - a pearl-sized amount is enough for the whole face (and I don’t apply it to the neck). I’ve been using it about twice a week for a little over a month now. I haven’t noticed any “side effects” such as dryness or flaking.

My results - the pores are visually smaller and more clear / less congested. The skin is smoother to the touch. I’ve had some issues with dullness in the recent past, perhaps due to the postpartum hormones or maybe the general lack of sleep. Either way, I see that my skin looks much brighter and healthier now. It’s especially noticeable in my YouTube videos. If you have an acne-prone teenager at home, take note - this is a very easy to use product that is effective. You might be able to talk your young rebels into giving it a shot.
