Today’s review is for Phykology 5 Hyaluronic Serum. You can see it “in person” in this unboxing reel. This serum contains hyaluronic acid of different molecular weights and promises to moisturize, brighten, and fight the signs of aging. It is cruelty free and vegan.
How to use:
Apply to the face and neck (I extend my skincare pretty far down, because the chest area can betray our age) after cleansing and toning
Hyaluronic acid works best on damp skin
Seal in with your favorite moisturizer
In addition to hyaluronic acid, this Phykology serum features 86% seaweed extract for even better hydration, niacinamide to brighten and help with appearance of pores, adenosine to improve fine lines, and panthenol to support a healthy skin barrier. A full list of ingredients is included at the end of the review.
The texture is thick and pleasant, almost gel-like. The dropper packaging works, but so would a pump. There is no scent as far as I can notice, and it’s very easy to apply - the product glides onto skin effortlessly. I haven’t noticed much stickiness, probably because I seal in with moisturizer right away. I’m not sure what would happen if the serum is just allowed to dry on the skin. I recommend applying moisturizer as quickly as feasible to avoid transepidermal water loss.
My impressions
I often put together my own routines with products from different brands. But when I get my hands on the whole line, I try to use the products together to see exactly what the brand has planned for us. This was the case with Phykology. I’ve been enjoying their seaweed mask a few times a week after cleansing (review here), then following with the toner (review here), this serum, and finishing with their moisturizer (review coming soon). While I think the serum will work with other brands, I really enjoyed its synergy with the Phykology toner.
My combination skin is hydrated and happy. The fine lines, especially the ones on the forehead, are looking plumped up and less noticeable. I look forward to using this and reach for it often, which is saying a lot since I have a robust selection of serums in my arsenal (just part of being a blogger). It’s hard to tell how much I have left, since the bottle isn’t see-through, but probably about half the bottle. The brand gets special thanks from me for using glass - it adds a whole level of luxury to my routine.
Phykology 5 Hyaluronic Serum can be used in the morning or at night. I only use it at night - I have more time and energy to devote to skincare then.
Overall, a very nice hyaluronic acid option. Have you tried any Phykology products? What did you think?
