Missha Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence Review

This post contains affiliate links. Product provided by Missha US.

Missha is well known for their First Treatment Essences. I’ve had the classic version twice now (latest review here), and now trying Missha Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence. This is a single-ingredient product made with double fermented Artemisia Annua Extract from Ganghwa Island. It’s advertised as a single ingredient product, but on the US sites you will see a breakdown of what goes into the extract (one does not simply bottle plants). The product is available on Missha US, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Amazon, and StyleKorean.

Artemisia is fermented for 100 days before it becomes this essence. It promises to brighten, soothe, and hydrate the skin and is marketed for all types, especially those prone to redness and sensitivities.

How to use:

  • Apply right after cleansing

  • Gently pat in

  • Follow with the rest of your routine

  • Can be used in the morning or evening

If you’ve used kbeauty for some time, you might be thinking “but this is an essence, don’t toners go first?”. Typically, yes. However, this is a first treatment essence, meaning it’s applied first, right after cleansing. You can follow it with a toner or other, thicker essences. If the whole thing of toners vs essences is confusing, watch this video for an overview of the classic kbeauty steps. To figure out how to layer items that are extra tricky or have unusual names (essence toners, etc) - check out this step by step demo.

Missha Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence has a watery texture and the faintest smell. I usually don’t even notice it. If you’ve had mugwort products, you’ll recognize the earthy aroma. The essence is quickly absorbed by the skin and isn’t heavy or greasy.

My impressions

This is a lovely addition to my skincare arsenal. I have combination skin that’s not sensitive. However, I’m very fair / pale, so any redness shows up right away. And if I’m a bit too rough with my face (even scratching an itch), it turns red. Mugwort / artemisia products work really well for soothing the skin and returning it to the normal baseline.

The Missha essence works well with all of my other products because of its light texture. I definitely notice the soothing and hydration, but can easily apply heavier products on top if needed (like a thicker essence or toner). Sometimes, I do more than one layer of Missha to get as much soothing and hydration in as I can.

The glass bottle deserves a special mention. Having products packaged in glass adds to the skincare experience for me. I like to feel fancy, and there’s nothing fancier than beautiful glass (well, maybe precious stones, but I can’t afford things packaged that way).

Overall, I’m very glad I finally got to try this first treatment essence. I will keep using it until it’s out.
