Skincare is my first love, and for years I barely used makeup. In recent months, however, I’ve become both better at makeup and more interested in it. When I saw MIGUHARA Spotlight Blush Drop in the color Sugar Fairy up for grabs for a YesStyle review, I had to try it.
This is a lightweight liquid blush with a bit of pearly shimmer, available on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT) and Amazon. Sugar Fairy is advertised as a universally flattering rosy pink. I’m very pale and still not comfortable with bold blush colors, so this sounded perfect.
How to use
Apply a moderate amount to cheeks and blend using a brush or fingers
My impressions
Define “moderate amount”. When I apply a few drops of MIGUHARA Blush Drop to my cheeks, I can barely see the color on the skin. If I use more, it becomes too hard to keep it in the desired areas. Imagine trying to rub in / spread half a dime sized amount of liquid color but keep it to just the cheeks. It’s very difficult. If the formula were thicker, I could have probably gotten more color payoff by layering it on the cheeks. But since it’s both liquid and not super pigmented, using it is a bit pointless. I tried several times now and I either see no difference on my skin (aside from a bit of shimmer) or it ends up all over my face.
I really wanted to like this product, and perhaps applying with a brush would go better. But I prefer quick “slap and go” products that could be applied with fingers, and this blush is not it. Probably a good choice for a teen who’s just dabbling in makeup - very low risk of ending up looking like they fell face first into a paint bucket.
