Make P:rem Base Me Tinted Moisturizer SPF50+ PA++++ Review

I love smart multi-tasking products. Not things that claim to cleanse everything from your car to your face, but cosmetics that address more than one need in a way that makes sense. Make p:rem Base Me Tinted Moisturizer SPF50+ PA++++ protects against the damaging effects of the sun and moisturizes the skin while also providing some makeup-like coverage.

It’s available on Amazon, sold by Credithink - a trusted retailer of authentic Korean skincare. You can save 10% with my code kbhobbit10 on all their offerings. You can also buy it on YesStyle (use reward code KBHOBBIT for extra savings).

Unfortunately, this tinted moisturizer only comes in one fairly light shade (the brand describes it as ivory). It works well for my skintone, which is very fair. Make p:rem Base Me is made without artificial fragrance, and I don’t notice any scent at all.

The consistency is more liquid than most other sunscreens I’ve used, more of a lotion than cream. It’s still pretty easy to work with. It can replace sunscreen, primer, and make-up base / tone corrector. For more coverage, use foundation on top. I typically just use this moisturizer, let it dry, and then top off with a bit of powder for a more matte finish.

My impressions

Initially, I tried using this the way I use BB creams - on top of another SPF product for the purposes of light makeup coverage. That really didn’t work well - the tinted moisturizer never quite dried down and felt a little oily. I thought maybe it just isn’t for me. Then I decided to try it on my leg (don’t laugh, I have some marks there from ingrown hairs, so it was a good way to test both finish and coverage). On my leg it acted beautifully - a semi-matte but not drying finish, light coverage that still camouflaged redness, and no oily feeling.

That led me to experiment more with facial application. Through trial and error I found that this is best used as a stand-alone SPF. I water rinse as usual, apply my vitamin C serum, let that set in, and then use the Make p:rem. If you also choose to do that, make sure you are using enough of the tinted moisturizer and are covering areas like your neck and ears, as those are prone to sun damage as well. Sometimes I use a different, non tinted product on my ears (although the make p:rem also works).

I really loved what it did for my legs - making the skin look more even but still very natural. I don’t think it was possible for anyone to tell I had “makeup” on it. So now I want a tinted body SPF. If you know a good one, please leave me a comment.

It’s still not my favorite for the face. I can make it work with a bit of powder on top, but by itself the finish is dewier than I prefer. If you like a more dewy look, then you will probably love this.
