Makeup isn’t something I’m very passionate about. Sure, it’s nice, but I tend to focus more on skincare. However, I occasionally enjoy exploring new brands and products. I have the oh-so-typical hooded eyes, and a lot of eyeliners imprint on the top lid. Avoiding that is my main eyeliner requirement.
I typically stick to a simple black (such as this Nicopy one), yet I thought experimenting with a color could be fun too. I chose Macqueen Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner in the color 07 Aura Heroine. It’s sold on YesStyle, Stylevana, Beautynetkorea, and eBay.
Here are some marketing claims that made me buy this product:
A sharp line in a single stroke
Smooth and even application
Waterproof to stay all day
No smudging
Won’t rub off
Can be used as eye shadow
How to use:
The same way you’d use any eyeliner. Apply in any way you choose. I have used it on my top and bottom lids as eyeliner.
My impressions
I wanted to love Macqueen Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner so much, but I just don’t. It transfers to my upper lid horribly, even if I set it with translucent powder. It’s not a good look. I haven’t tried using it as eye shadow, but maybe I’ll attempt that, just to use it up. Blending out a thin line into shadow doesn't seem like the most efficient use of my time. I have tried lining my lower lids with this pencil, which worked fine, but typically I leave my lower lids alone.
I also can’t say that it’s a sharp line with a single stroke. In fact, it’s not sharp with any amount of strokes. It’s a pretty soft pencil and it goes on accordingly - in a soft, smudgy line. That’s a look too, it’s just not what I was going for. I usually do cat eye, and was hoping to bring some variety to my usual look with a new, fun color. To be fair, the color is beautiful - no complaints there.
My only consolation is that it wasn’t expensive, so it’s not a big loss. If you know of an awesome colored eyeliner that won’t transfer to the upper lid, please let me know! If you like a soft, smudgy line, then give it a try.
