I’ve been intrigued by Lilybyred for a while - their social media campaigns and catchy packaging create FOMO (fear of missing out) like no other. I finally settled on Lilybyred Tangle Jelly Balm, available on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT) and Olive Young (code KBHOBBIT77).
Tangle Jelly Balms come in 8 colors. I chose 04 Lychee Jelly Bite.
Jelly balms feature four plant oils plus hydrolyzed collagen to nourish and moisturize the lips.
How to use
Apply evenly to lips
For an extra plump look, use a lip blending stick as lip liner first
My impressions
I love the color and the texture, but this packaging is terrible! The rigid tube needs to be squeezed to dispense the balm, but as soon as you let go, the tube is reinflated and the balm gets sucked right back into the packaging. I get around that by wiping the glob of the balm on the lip white still squeezing the tube, then letting go and using the slanted tip to spread the product. It's honestly a pain.
I’m pretty careful with my makeup, yet the lid is cracking all over. I’m not sure why, because I do not over-tighten it when I close the tube. Oh, and if I go a few days without using the Lilybyred Tangle Jelly Balm, it dries in the dispenser opening and then shoots out like a crusty little turd… Again, I think the lid / packaging are the issue.
When I first started using this balm, I immediately wanted to order more colors. It’s just so nice on the lips - emollient but not sticky, with a beautiful yet subtle color. But after a few days with this “great” packaging, I changed my mind. If the brand ever packages this differently, I will be all over it. For now, I will suffer through this tube and never look back. What a shame, because it could have been a perfect blend of lip care and makeup.
