Keep Cool Shine Pure Tone Up Cream Review

We are slowly moving into the Fall and Winter seasons, which means I’m trying to find some good morning moisturizer options to layer under sunscreen. In the warmer months, SPF is enough for me, but as it gets colder and more dry, I tend to add a separate cream to my morning routine.

Keep Cool Shine Pure Tone Up Cream promises two main benefits - brightening the skin and improving the look of wrinkles. It’s available on Keep Cool US Site (save 25% on your order with code kbeautyhobbit25), Amazon (save with code kbhobbit10, which works on everything sold by Credithink), and YesStyle (save with reward code KBHOBBIT).

This is a waterproof formula with adenosine, niacinamide, centella asiatica, pearl, and plant extracts - a full list of ingredients can be found at the end of the review. I don’t really notice a scent, but my current sense of smell is messed up. I do see fragrance in the ingredients, however.

How to use:

  • Apply at the end of your skincare routine to the face and / or body

  • Follow with SPF if using in the morning

The cream is quite thick and not always easy to spread. That may be because it’s waterproof (and the purpose of that feature truly escapes me), or perhaps another flaw in the formula.

My impressions

Oooof. I’m not a mean person (typically), but this is just not for me. Imagine having a super heavy white cast SPF, but without any actual SPF in it. That’s what this cream is like. I have combination skin with some oily and dry areas, and I’m very pale / fair. Keep Cool Shine Pure Tone Up Cream gives me a pretty noticeable white cast, so I don’t even want to imagine how it would look on someone with even a slightly deeper skin tone. It also feels heavy and kind of sticky, even when I use very little.

I tried applying it to my body and couldn’t really stand the sensation there either, although it did seem to hide some of the blemishes (by quite literally whiting them out). This is definitely not a favorite, and I am not even looking forward to trying to finish my tube. Perhaps I can be a Vampire this Halloween and use it as makeup for that...
