If you are interested in Asian skincare at all (or watch kdramas), you have probably seen the Kahi Wrinkle Bounce Multi Balm. It’s all over my feed lately, and lots of people have asked about it in my Facebook group.
Made with salmon collagen and fermented oil from Jeju, this balm promises to reduce the look of lines and wrinkles on the forehead, neck, around the eyes, and other areas in need of care. Kahi uses a patented Filmexel technology to produce a seaweed biofilm that protects the skin from harmful external factors. The balm is available on Drama Beauty (discount code KBHOBBIT), Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Stylevana (code INF10KBH), Jolse, StyleKorean, and eBay.
How to use
Apply to any areas with lines - neck, around the eyes, nasolabial folds, forehead, etc
Can be used on the lips and dry hair ends
Use under makeup for a moisture boost
In addition to salmon collagen, Kahi Wrinkle Bounce Multi Balm features a variety of plant extracts and antioxidants - a full list is available at the end of the review. It has a moist finish that’s not necessarily sticky but definitely felt to the touch. The balm smells wonderful - not too strong but still noticeable while applying; the scent doesn’t linger.
My impressions
It’s so hard for me to review this product - let me see if I can express my thoughts clearly. It’s not a bad balm and I did find some uses for it. My combination skin doesn’t need this level of nourishment during the day, so I use it only at night for “targeted slugging” - sealing in hydration in the areas that need it most, such as under the eyes. When I wake up, I can still feel the balm there, so it protects my skin from water loss the entire night. I use adapalene (a retinoid) that can be irritating to the more sensitive parts of the face. It’s common advice to apply a thick ointment like Vaseline around the eyes, corners of the mouth, and in the corners of the nose before using adapalene to protect those zones. The Kahi Wrinkle Bounce Multi Balm is a fancier and more pleasant product to use for that purpose.
My favorite part of this balm is the scent. It smells like expensive perfume to me and I love that. The aroma isn’t strong, but it’s noticeable and makes me enjoy my evening routine a little more.
I don’t use this on my lips, because I have much cheaper effective lip balms and masks. It’s honestly too much of a hassle to try to get on the hair ends. Again, there are cheaper and easier to use options for that.
Here’s my struggle - this product is expensive. Even though I got it as PR, I am still mindful of pricing, especially when recommending something to others. Not too long ago I was scrounging my extra pennies to afford skincare, and that mindset didn’t go away just because I get gifted items now. I did find ways to use it, but it wasn’t a seamless introduction into my routine. In other words, I could easily live without it. Cerave healing ointment works just fine for slugging at a fraction of the cost. The brand did a fantastic marketing job with this, but to me it’s not worth the price. I don’t mind splurging on an item that is a true must-have, irreplaceable part of my routine. Kahi Bounce Balm isn’t it. If I got another one as PR, I would happily use it. But I wouldn’t spend my own hard earned cash to repurchase this.
I’m still very happy I got to try this, because now my FOMO is soothed.
