Jenny House Truffle Water Essence Review

It took me some time to fully appreciate essences. When I was first getting into Korean skincare, I thought essences were simply another version of a toner. But now I’m a fan. I adore them and understand that each one offers unique benefits that go beyond what a toner can do.

The Jenny House Truffle Water Essence was gifted to me in a By Sophie Box (see the unboxing video here). It’s sold on* YesStyle (save more with reward code KBHOBBIT), Amazon, and eBay.

How to use:

  • Apply after toner

  • Pat in

  • Follow with the rest of your routine (serum, moisturizer, etc)

Can be used in the AM or PM. I mostly use it in the evening, because I have more time then.

Jenny House Truffle water contains fermented black truffle extract. Fermented ingredients are believed to penetrate the skin better than non-fermented ones. Fermented black truffle extract is rich in vitamin C for a brighter complexion. The essential fatty acids in the truffle can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The generously sized 200ml bottle contains a slightly tinted essence that’s a bit thicker than water. It glides onto the skin effortlessly and has a “slip” to it that’s very pleasant. It reminds me of another favorite essence of mine - By Wishtrend Quad Boosting Essence (review here).

My impressions:

A good essence makes a big difference in the appearance of my skin. Jenny House Truffle Water Essence is what I would consider a good essence. It’s very hydrating and a pleasure to apply. There’s a subtle, nice scent that doesn’t linger. Because of the slightly thicker consistency, I use less at each application than I would with a totally water-like product, so it should last me some time. I’ve been using it almost daily for a few weeks and am not even halfway through the bottle.

One of my big concerns, especially in the cold dry seasons are fine lines on my forehead. They become quite noticeable if the skin is dehydrated. This essence keeps the water levels where they should be. I look plump and fresh, as if I slept 8 hours at night and not the interrupted 5 I typically get.

There is no stickiness and no other unpleasantries. I mostly use the essence before bed, but since the air is getting dryer, I’ve tried it in the morning a few times with great results. It doesn’t interfere with makeup in any way. In fact, it makes everything look better since the skin is plumped up.

This was gifted to me, but I would happily repurchase based on my experience with a more refreshed, hydrated, and youthful-looking face.
