Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Airy Sun Stick Review

I used to think sun sticks weren’t for me, because the first one I tried was a greasy, white, hard to spread “natural” version by one of the US brands. My opinion completely changed after I tried Scinic (review here), and now I have at least one sun stick in my arsenal at all times. I’m currently using Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Airy Sun Stick, available on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Amazon, Stylevana (code INF10KBH), Jolse, and eBay.

This sun stick is formulated with hyaluronic acid and ice plant extract to protect and soothe the skin. It has SPF50+ PA++++. Ice plant or mesembryanthemum crystallinum is rich in antioxidants and may help with irritation and inflammation while protecting the skin from free radicals. It’s also a humectant that helps with moisture levels and supports a healthy barrier function. I only had one other product with it - Blithe pressed serum (review here). I don’t expect sunscreen to do much more than protect from the sun, but if these added ingredients provide some extra care for the skin, then great.

How to use

  • Turn the dial on the bottom to expose the sun stick (similar to how lipsticks work)

  • Apply to exposed areas

  • Reapply as needed

This sunscreen stick is soft enough to apply comfortably but doesn’t break or crumble. It has a light, pleasant scent and no white cast (at least on me). It uses chemical filters.

My impressions

I have combination skin with some dry and some oily areas. I’m also very fair and prone to freckles and sunburn.

This is one of my favorite sun sticks ever. It’s super easy to apply, glides on effortlessly, doesn’t leave a white cast, and isn’t sticky or unpleasant in any way. While I don’t usually rely on just sticks for my sun protection, they are a great and convenient way to reapply (even on top of makeup, although I’m not a big makeup user). I reach for this before my afternoon walks, when I’m about to drive home from somewhere, or even mid-hike if I feel sweaty and need to make sure my skin is protected. I also use Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Airy Sun Stick on my kids, because they don’t fight that as much as sun creams, but remember to consult your pediatrician if you aren’t sure what to use for your own children.

Isntree sunscreens

One of the common struggles with sun sticks is getting into harder to reach areas like around the nostrils. The Isntree stick has a convenient teardrop shape with one narrow end that helps a lot with this issue. I still use my fingers to rub it in a little in those spots (but I don’t do that on the larger areas like cheeks and forehead). I’m very happy with this product and will continue to use it and wouldn’t mind getting it again.
