It’s been a while since I’ve had a new sleeping mask (which is just a fancy term for “nighttime moisturizer”), so I thought I’d try one. I’m Sorry For My Skin makes lovely sheet masks and I wanted to check out their other skincare.
I'm Sorry For My Skin Water Boom Jelly Mask, available on Jolse, is gel-type moisturizer with a trademarked ingredient AQUAXYL™ to moisturize, soothe, and protect sensitive skin. A special Skin Fortifier Complex promises to support a healthy skin barrier. While I was trying to get a sleeping mask, this jelly mask is actually a day time product. The brand makes a separate evening one called Bounce Jelly Sleeping Mask. My bad for grabbing the wrong one… I’m definitely not used to day moisturizers being called “masks”... However, the brand does say that this can be used as a sleeping mask as well.
This product is specifically marketed to people who live in large cities with a pollution issue. The jelly mask is supposed to prevent fine dust particles from getting into the skin.
How to use
Apply to clean skin after toner
Gently pat in
Follow with SPF in the morning
I’m Sorry For My Skin also says that a sheet mask can be used after the jelly mask, but I’m wondering if that’s just a translation issue. Sheet masks usually go before moisturizers, not after.
The product has a light but slightly tacky finish, translucent blue color and a fresh, mild scent that doesn’t linger.
My impressions
I'm Sorry For My Skin Water Boom Jelly Mask is fine. It’s nothing special, but it’s not bad either. I find the product name very misleading. A “mask” to me is either a wash off mask or a sleeping mask, but not a gel cream for day time. I also do not live in a huge city where pollution is an issue, so perhaps I cannot fully experience all of the benefits this product has to offer. I’m not the right target audience.
I have combination skin with some oily and some dry zones. For me, this isn’t a good morning product as it feels like too much for my skin, especially now that it’s summer. Someone with dry or dehydrated skin might have a different experience. I do find it curious that the brand markets this as being for “sensitive skin”, yet includes fragrance. My skin does fine with fragrance, but many sensitive types do not.
I use the I'm Sorry For My Skin Water Boom Jelly Mask at night. It’s just fine - a light moisturizer that works well under tretinoin if I let it dry down first. It’s alright if my skin is already in good shape, but if it’s feeling dry then I prefer richer, thicker formulas. For mornings, I like creams that have no sticky residue at all. Again, nothing special but not bad either. I wouldn’t repurchase it but will finish the jar I have.
