I’ve been really enjoying wash off masks this year - there is something for every skin concern. One of my recent favorites is I’m From Ginseng Mask. It’s supposed to smooth and restore the skin, get rid of excess sebum, help with elasticity and purify. The mask warms up when used, which can help with the cleansing process (and feels awesome). It contains 3.97% 6 year old red ginseng extract and panax ginseng seed oil.
I’m From Ginseng Mask is sold on* Wishtrend, YesStyle (use reward code KBHOBBIT for an extra discount), Stylevana, Amazon, and eBay.
How to use:
Apply generously to the face after cleansing
Gently massage with fingertips (the mask will warm up)
Rinse with water after 5-10 minutes
The official directions say to massage for 5-10 minutes. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have that kind of finger stamina, so I just massage for as long as I feel like it, then let the mask sit on the skin, and rinse.
Ginseng is a medicinal ingredient that can improve blood circulation (and complexion); the heat element in the mask comes from that.
The mask is wonderfully viscous and translucent. Its consistency can change based on surrounding temperature. I never had mine thicken, but if yours does, massage with wet fingertips to get it back to normal.
My impressions
I love everything about this. Is it strictly necessary for my routine? Probably not. But is it an amazingly pleasurable experience? Yes!
I am very fair and easily turn red, but the I’m From Ginseng mask doesn’t irritate my skin. I love the gentle heat, especially right now when it’s cold and snowy outside. My skin feels and looks so much better - the color improves (more of a healthy glow vs a tired paleness), the pores appear smaller. There’s no dryness or any other unpleasant side effects. In fact, if I have any dry flakey areas before using the mask, they are gone afterwards.
This mask has the texture of thick syrup and a beautiful caramel color. There’s an herbal scent, but it’s not distracting or overwhelming. Even though the product has a purifying effect, the skin isn’t left stripped by any means. I’m guessing that glycerin in the ingredients is the reason why my face feels so amazingly soft and smooth after using the ginseng mask.
This is a great purifying and warming experience. I have combination skin and love it. Unlike some other “detox” products (clay masks, peels, etc), this mask is very gentle but effective.
I highly recommend it. And now that I’m finished with the review, I’m off to slather some on my face while soaking in a hot bath and watching youtube videos :) Have a great day!
