Eye cream is a polarizing topic in the skincare community. Is it just overpriced moisturizer in a smaller container? A concentrated magic potion to erase all signs of aging? A money grab or an essential? My view on the topic is the ever frustrating “it depends”. It depends on your skin, preferences, budget, and the product in question.

The cream can be used in the morning or at night (or both) and may be applied to the entire face, if desired. Heimish Marine Eye Cream has a thick, creamy consistency and a pleasant scent.
One concern with very thick eye creams is the potential for milia. Fortunately, I haven’t had any issues with that after several weeks of consistent use.
My impressions
I’m picky about eye creams and spent years using nothing in that area. Due to my hooded, oily upper eyelids a lot of formulas feel too heavy and suffocating. But of course I’m aging, skin is changing, and I find myself enjoying an eye cream here and there.
Heimish Marine Eye Cream is a good addition to my evening routine a few times a week. I focus on the undereye area and the top of the orbital bone, skipping the mobile top lid (to avoid having the cream migrate into the eye).
The massage tool might be my favorite thing about this product - the pleasantly heavy metal tip feels amazing! The wand doesn’t seem unique to Heimish - I see other eye creams have it as well - but it was my first experience personally. The closest I’ve ever come to something like this was Laneige eye serum, but in that case the applicator was attached to a wand attached to the lid and stored inside the container, and thus not easily usable with any other skincare products.
This is a perfect example of an eye specific product that makes sense. Because the skin on most of my face is oily, I don’t usually stock super rich, thick facial moisturizers. But the undereye area is thinner and could benefit from a bit more nourishment, so using a more specialized cream makes sense. Did it have to be a specific “eye” cream? No. I could have bought a jar of thick face moisturizer. But I also like the aesthetic aspects of this product - the packaging, the smell, even the unique greenish color. For me, skincare is more than a utilitarian exercise in cleansing and moisturizing. It’s how I unwind. One could also argue that a facial cream with similar ingredients would come in a larger size and might, therefore, cost more.
For me, this is a win and I will happily keep using it.
