Haruharu WONDER Black Rice Serum Review

This post contains affiliate links. Product provided by YesStyle.

Haruharu is a very popular brand (at least if you are in the skincare social media space, you have probably seen their iconic, award-winning packaging). I was unsure about them at first - the hype isn’t always justified - but have grown to enjoy a lot of the offerings.

I reviewed the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice toner and cream, and now it’s finally time to talk about the serum. This is a lightweight, gel-like product that promises to deliver moisture and improve elasticity. It’s available on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Amazon, Stylevana (code INF10KBH), and StyleKorean.

The formula contains fermented rice extract, ginseng, aloe, beta-glucan, and hyaluronic acid to plump up the skin and fight the signs of aging. It smells strongly of lavender (which I personally do not mind).

How to use:

  • Apply to clean face and neck after toner

  • Gently pat in

  • Follow with moisturizer and SPF (in the morning)

The pump bottle makes it very easy to dispense the desired amount of serum. My skin absorbs it quickly without any stickiness or congestion.

My impressions

I like this serum. I would have preferred a fragrance free version, even though I don’t mind essential oils myself, because people with sensitivities could have appreciated it as well.

I have combination skin with some oily and some dry areas. Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Serum plumps up the fine lines nicely (especially on the forehead) and doesn’t overwhelm my oilier areas around the nose. It’s a pleasure to apply - the texture is wonderful and layers well over watery toners and essences (or even not-so-watery toners, like the Haruharu Wonder toner).

This can be enjoyed in the am or pm routine, but I prefer to use it at night when I have more time. The scent is also very relaxing and adds a certain spa-like element to my routine. Bonus points for the pump bottle, as those are easier to use than the more traditional pipette dispensers, especially with a gel formula.
