HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ is formulated for sensitive skin and contains hyaluronic acid, rice bran oil, and heartleaf extract. The product is advertised as “lightweight and hydrating”. It’s available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Stylevana (code INF10KBH), Olive Young (code KBHOBBIT77), Jolse, StyleKorean, and Blooming KOCO.
Don’t let the oil in the ingredients scare you - the formula doesn’t feel oily at all.
How to use
Apply to exposed areas as the last step of skincare
Reapply as needed
The finish is pretty natural, somewhat on the matte side. Brand’s marketing materials say this is “free of artificial fragrances”, which can be a somewhat misleading word choice. Often products with that claim contain natural fragrances like essential oils, which can be just as irritating (if not more) than artificial ones. However, a quick look at the ingredients list on cosdna didn’t reveal any hidden fragrances. I am not a cosmetic chemist, so please take a look at the ingredients provided at the end of the article and make your own decisions if you are sensitive to fragrance or plant extracts.
I apply this rice sunscreen all over the face, neck, ears, and around the eyes with no irritation.
My impressions
I like this sunscreen and will use it up, but it’s definitely not for everyone. The biggest potential drawback is the white cast. It’s barely visible on my fair skin, but anyone with a deeper complexion will likely notice it. It also takes a bit more effort to spread / rub in than other formulas (due to a thicker texture). None of these are an issue for me, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
I like the tube / pump packaging - makes dispensing simple and mess free. The semi-matte finish is also in line with my preferences. If you like mineral formulas, have combination / oily skin, and don’t mind a bit of a white cast or are super fair like I am, then consider giving this a try. It may work fine for dry skin as well, but if extra moisturizing is desired, consider adding an extra layer of moisturizer before sunscreen.
