I love cleansing oils. There’s no quicker and gentler way to remove makeup, sunscreen, and anything else accumulated on the skin during the day. Even the act of massaging the oil over the skin is relaxing - it means the long day of work is over and now it’s time to exhale and unwind.
Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Deep Cleansing oil is available on Amazon, DearLucy (code KBHOBBIT), YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Stylevana (code INF10KBH), and Olive Young (code KBHOBBIT77). It promises a thorough cleanse and lasting hydration.
How to use
Massage over dry face with dry, clean hands
Add water and massage more - the oil will emulsify
Rinse and follow with a foaming cleanser
The brand recommends using the wonder cleansing oil in the morning and at night. I only double cleanse at night - a water rinse or a toner pad is enough for my combination skin in the morning.
My impressions
This was a huge (and unexpected) fail for me. I don’t know why, but it irritates my eyes no matter how I use it. I introduced the Haruharu Wonder cleansing oil around the same time as a new mascara, and I was hoping that maybe it was the mascara that caused stinging and burning. After extensive testing (with my regular mascara and without any eye makeup at all), I’m certain that the source of the unpleasant sensations is the cleansing oil. Even when I use it on the rest of the face completely avoiding the eye area, I still get burning and stinging - some of that must be airborne, or maybe just a tiny bit of the oil travels during cleansing and still ends up bothering my eyes. This is very unusual, because I typically don’t experience irritation with any balms, oils, or makeup removers. The only good news here is that the stinging and burning go away shortly after cleansing.
Eye issues aside, the rest of my face feels just fine - cleansed but not stripped. I like the texture and consistency of the oil. Sadly, something just isn’t jiving with my body. Even though most other Haruharu products work well for me.
I went through almost half the bottle and still haven’t figured out a good way to use this product. I will either give it away to one of my skincare friends (with a full disclaimer), or stash it until warmer weather and use it to remove body sunscreen.
