Haruharu WONDER Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner Review

Toners make me happy. I tend to acquire and use a lot of different ones, and that was the case long before I got a single bottle of anything as PR. One of my current favorites is Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner.

This toner comes in a couple of sizes - regular and jumbo - and now there’s even an unscented, alcohol-free version available for people with sensitive skin. The Wonder toner can be purchased on YesStyle (save with reward code KBHOBBIT), Amazon, Stylevana (discount code INF10KBH), iHerb (discount code CWN6107), and Plump Shop.

Haruharu WONDER Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner (ok, can we talk about the trend of super long product names?) promises intense moisture and nourishment. It contains hyaluronic acid, beta-glucan, and 2,000ppm Black Rice Extract that can enhance the skin’s elasticity.

How to use:

  • Apply after cleansing

  • Gently pat in

  • Follow with the rest of your routine

If you are confused about how to layer skincare, what the 7-skin method is, and how to incorporate everything from cleansing to retinoids in your routine, check out this video, which features the Haruharu toner:

The texture is pretty thick and reminiscent of Klairs Supple Prep Toner. There’s an undeniable scent of lavender that I find quite pleasant.

My impressions

Let’s start with the obvious - there’s alcohol in the formula. The drying, “evil” kind of alcohol. To be honest, I would have never guessed that without actually reading the ingredients. It’s second to last on the list, meaning the % compared to other ingredients is low. The toner doesn’t smell like alcohol and doesn’t dry out or sting my face. But I know that the sensitive or extra cautious folks may not even want to try this, which is probably why the brand released the unscented, alcohol free version. I haven’t tried that one personally.

I like this toner quite a bit. It has perfect texture - thick but not heavy or greasy, and very hydrating. My combination skin drinks it right up. I tend to use this at night, but it would work in the mornings as well. I notice a plumping effect, plus the whole application experience is awesome, largely due to the relaxing lavender scent.

Because I somehow ended up with two regular sized bottles and one jumbo, I gifted some to a friend. She’s totally in love with it, so I bet it’s going to be a crowd favorite among people who don’t react poorly to alcohol or essential oils.

Have you tried any Haruharu products? What did you think?
