Glowie Co Review (and a discount code)

Updated: Mar 12, 2021

Glowie Co is a new (launched in 2019) online retailer for all things Korean, Japanese, and Taiwanese beauty. I love seeing more shops open that ship from the United States (less wait time for delivery is always nice), so when they offered to send me a package with some of their best sellers, I happily agreed. This is not a sponsored review, but the products were sent to me for free.

I’ve been using the contents of that box for several weeks now, and today’s review will have two parts - my overall thoughts about Glowie Co, plus specific reviews of each product.

Glowie Co

I’m an avid fan of buying Korean beauty on ebay, simply because of the pricing. However, that comes with some drawbacks - longer wait time (2 weeks or more for the delivery to the US), lack of ingredients in English, hard to navigate selection, and an overabundance of choice.

Glowie Co ships from California. Their site has descriptions and ingredients for each product in English, plus the collection is curated - hand-picked to offer the buyers a selection of great products. It’s less overwhelming than venturing out into online superstores that ship directly from Korea. In addition to that, I like having Taiwaneese and Japanese products as well. I’m a very seasoned Korean beauty fan, but out of everything that was sent to me, I have only tried one brand in the past. I appreciate seeing new / less known brands.

In short, here are the Glowie Co advantages:

  • Shipping from the US

  • Free shipping on orders of $25 or more

  • Curated / handpicked offerings

  • Ingredients and instructions in English (plus brand info!)

  • More than just kbeauty - Taiwanese and Japanese brands as well

  • 100% authentic - products are sourced directly from brands or from their authorized distributors

  • Free samples with every order

Here are some brief reviews of the thing I got to try.

Does this need much of a review? It’s plushy, it’s comfy, it keeps hair out of my face during my routine. See it in action in this video.

If you are like me, you might be wondering what the heck is “loofah”. Judging by the picture on the packaging and the scent of the mask, it’s a cucumber. The main purpose of this mask is to hydrate the skin; the sheet is made from 100% silk. Hyaluronic acid, aloe, and cucumber provide hydration while improving skin’s texture.

The mask is very light and refreshing. The material is thin and soft. I got a box of 5 and am on my last one now. I kept reaching for them over and over. A great mask with a pretty good fit (the sheet is a bit wide for my face, but nothing dramatic). You can see me use it in this video.

Out of all the things in my Glowie Co package, My Beauty Diary was the only brand I’ve tried before (but it was a different mask). Their sheet masks are excellent and affordable.

The black pearl variety moisturizes and rejuvenates with black pearl essence and red algae. Gentle exfoliating ingredients such as pineapple brighten up the skin.

I adore these masks and am so glad they came in a box of 10! I reach for them all the time. They hydrate well, but without causing any stickiness or a heavy residue.

Back in college, I had a major love affair with bubble tea. Specifically, a mint bubble tea. Mmmmm. There was a Tea Smith on my way back from school, and I would stop there frequently. I swear I can still taste the slushy frozen minty bubble tea and the chewy tapioca “bubbles” on the bottom.

Annie’s Way Green Tea Bubble Tea Mask smells just like that tea shop did (minus the mint). It immediately brings me back to the simpler time before grown up jobs, kids, and mortgages. Just like the LoveMore mask above, this one is made from 100% silk and is so soft to the touch. Witch hazel and green tea in the ingredients soothe the skin and balance oil production. I love using this mask when my skin has been “naughty” - oily or on the verge of a breakout. It’s a great, light mask that’s a pleasure to apply.

I’m not much of a makeup wearer (watch my simple routine here), but mascara is basically a must. While all of the other products in the Glowie Co box were selected by the company, this mascara I specifically requested. Most of us have probably heard of the Japanese brand Shiseido, but I never knew they had an offshoot that specialized in mascara.

Shiseido Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara is a waterproof product that also uses tiny fibers to lengthen and thicken the lashes. This is nothing like the poorly formulated (and hugely marked up) “fiber” mascaras of the multilevel marketing world in the US (those left my eyes tired and red). This mascara is magical. Despite being waterproof, it doesn’t tire my eyes out. It’s easily removed with a waterproof makeup remover (I currently use this one).

I’ve napped in this product (ok, ok, I know you shouldn’t, but sometimes if the baby falls asleep, so do I), I’ve cried in it - it doesn’t budge. No streaking, no smearing, no running. It’s awesome. And while I received it as a gift, I would have 0 issues buying it - the price is very reasonable.

The purpose of this mask is to even out the skin tone - perfect! I'm super prone to freckles and am constantly trying to prevent them from blending together into age spots.

Apple extract exfoliates (and hydrates); arbutin helps to visually shrink the pores and reduce discoloration.

I'm careful with exfoliating masks, especially those containing fruit acids (such as lemon), as sometimes they make my skin red. This one doesn't at all. It's a lovely mask, light and not sticky. In general, all of the masks in this box have been very pleasant to use and don't leave a heavy residue. I wonder if that's because the collection is curated and only the best is chosen, or because that's how Taiwanese sheet masks generally are.

Overall, I was impressed by Glowie Co’s selections, prices, speed of shipping, and professional communication. I love that Korean, Japanese, and Taiwanese beauty is becoming easier and easier to purchase here in the United States without having to pay huge brick-and-mortar store markups. So, if you are in the market for some new skincare or makeup, give Glowie Co a try. Use KBEAUTYHOBBIT at checkout to save 15%.
