This used to be my holy grail sunscreen, but it’s been years since I tried it. So it was definitely time to revisit ETUDE Sunprise Mild Airy Finish, available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Stylevana (code INF10KBH), and Olive Young (code KBHOBBIT77).

How to use

  • Apply to skin before sun exposure

  • Reapply as needed

The brand promises a non-sticky, lotion-like texture and that’s mostly true. The sunscreen does look a tad oily when dispensed, but dries down without stickiness. The finish is more dewy than I like, but nothing a layer of translucent powder can’t fix.

I have fair skin - most sunscreens do not leave a white cast on me. ETUDE Sunprise, however, does leave a bit of a cast, which isn’t unusual for an all-mineral formula. Someone with a deeper skin tone will probably notice this more. It doesn’t bother me enough to be a deal breaker.

My impressions

I’m pretty sure the formula for this product changed in recent years. Long before I had a blog and was constantly testing new SPF formulas, I used to buy mild airy finish sunscreen all the time. It felt kind of dry / matte on the skin. At the time, people complained about it drying out the skin and leaving a white cast, but I never experienced those things.

This new one feels “oilier”, has a slightly more noticeable scent, and leaves a bit of a visible white cast on me. I have no reason to question the authenticity of this product (because it came from YesStyle). Plus, it’s not uncommon for brands to change formulas and packaging, which is why I occasionally revisit old faves. Overall, it’s not a terrible formula and I will use it up, but it doesn’t elicit the feeling of undying love the way it used to. I will probably not get it again.
