I love face primers. Before I really figured out my skincare routine and made my combination skin behave more like “normal” skin, I used a primer every day (without foundation) to keep the oil at bay and have the face look even and not greasy.
Now I dabble in makeup, especially when filming for YouTube, and decided to explore some more kbeauty primers. I’m currently using Etude House Face Blur (Mattifying). It was sent to me by Jolse and is available* on their website.
Etude House Face Blur primers promise smooth and bright skin as if using a blurring filter (but in real life). The primers come in three varieties - mattifying, smoothing, and moisturizing. Mine is mattifying. Ingredients for all three types are provided at the end of the review.
The mattifying primer contains special sliding powder that fills in fine lines for a smooth finish. The pink base with cherry blossom extract color corrects the skin tone and makes the face look more fresh and youthful.
How to use:
Apply at the end of your skincare routine (after SPF)
Follow with makeup (or just leave as is)
My impressions
This primer is awesome. I love the pump dispenser - it’s really easy to use without any mess. The formula is pretty liquid, more so than other primers I’ve used, and easy to spread. I love how light it is, doesn’t really feel like I’m adding another layer to my face.
Etude House Face Blur makes my combination skin very soft and smooth with a natural satin finish (not too matte but not dewy either). It controls oil all day without drying out any areas. I’ve used this under powder, cushion, and regular tube bb creams and it’s worked wonderfully in all three scenarios.
I notice extended wear of my foundations, without any touch ups, vs when not using a primer. The difference is especially dramatic in the oily areas of my face - forehead and nose.
I’m super pleased with this product and glad I chose it to test. I can see why it has so many satisfied fans.
