ELMT is one of the newer brands from the Wishtrend family. I tried all of their essences, but until recently that’s all the brand offered. When I saw the newly launched ELMT Pure Vitamin C 20% Element, I had to try it. The serum is available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), and Wishtrend (code LUCY15).
ELMT’s formula is unique - the ascorbic acid is captured using powder-in-suspension technology. First, 2-Tier Stabilization is used, then C is suspended in a biolipid base to stave off activation until the right time. The vitamin C in this waterless serum is activated upon contact with skin’s moisture.
How to use
Apply to damp skin for maximum efficiency
Use after cleansing
Follow with your favorite moisturizer
The brand warns about a warming sensation or even irritation upon use. I do get a bit of a heat wave, but nothing major. Klairs Vitamin drop warms up quite a bit more than ELMT.
ELMT vitamin C serum has the most unique texture I’ve ever seen in a product like this. It’s thick and creamy, but doesn’t feel like a moisturizer. If I had to guess, this is due to glycerin in the ingredients. Please note that there will be slight, temporary stinging if you have any scratches, wounds, or other barrier impairment. I suggest avoiding those areas when using this serum.
I don’t notice a scent.
My impressions
I love the innovation behind this product. The huge drawback of ascorbic acid is its short shelf life and oxidation, but ELMT seems to have solved this issue. Still, unfortunately this isn’t for me. I just cannot get past the stickiness of the formula, even when topped with a moisturizer. I usually reach for vitamin C in the mornings, however this one is way too heavy for my combination skin to use during the day. Applying a matte sunscreen does help with the stickiness, but not with the heaviness. One of my followers suggested applying it to damp skin right after toner, which does help a bit, but not enough for the process to be enjoyable.
I do enjoy the texture of ELMT while applying it, just not how it feels after. I’ve been using this at night, because I wanted to give it a fair chance as far as results are concerned. My skin does look a bit brighter. It’s very important to consider your starting point when evaluating skincare products. I’m a regular vitamin C user, so while I saw great results years ago when first starting with C, these days it’s all about maintenance. There’s nothing wrong with maintenance, and claiming life changing results from each new product isn’t realistic or honest.
Someone with very dry skin may get more out of this vitamin C serum. For me, it’s a flop but I don’t hate it. I’m just not the target audience.
