Dr.Ceuracle makes one of my favorite products - the Kombucha essence, so when I saw the newly launched (at the time) Vegan Activery Berry First Essence and Vegan Active Berry Lifting Cream, I had to try them both. The line has expanded since then and now includes lip oil and eye cream. Everything is available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT) and Stylevana (code INF10KBH).

The First Essence is enriched with an active berry complex to help with moisture levels, elasticity, and a healthy skin barrier. Marketing materials mention retinol, but I do not see any retinoids on the list. I am not a chemist, so please check for yourself - I included the full list of ingredients at the end.

Dr.Ceuracle Vegan Active Berry First Essence and Lifting Cream

How to use

  • Apply after toner

  • Gently pat for absorption

The name and the instructions are confusing. First Essence typically means the product is to be used before toners. At least that’s the case with Missha’s first essences. Brands take huge liberties with product names, so nothing surprises me anymore. The texture is thick in a good way, and the glass bottle makes it feel like a luxury product. Despite lavender oil in the ingredients, I never noticed much scent with this essence.

Dr.Ceuracle Vegan Active Berry Lifting Cream features encapsulated resveratrol and berries to help with elasticity and complexion. The same active berry complex as in the essence is included to plump and rejuvenate.

How to use

  • Apply after the essence

  • Massage well

Both products have little pink inclusions that burst during application, adding a bit of visual and sensory fun to the skincare routine. The cream has a light gel texture that is only a little tacky after application. For me, this is an evening product (I have combination skin with an oily t-zone).

My impressions

Both of these Vegan Berry items are fine but not mind blowing. They do not elicit the level of excitement (or the results) of the iconic Kombucha essence. I ended up passing about half the bottle of essence to a friend and the rest of the cream to my spouse. He wasn’t wowed either. Both provide some plumping but that’s mostly due to the basic hydration and moisture and not some genius formulation. The results are no better than other toners and creams that often cost less. At $29.30 (today’s price on YesStyle), I can find a better cream or the same type of product but in a larger package.

With that said, I have no huge complaints and if you’ve been wanting to try these and have the means, you may find your next holy grail. We are all different and all reviews should be taken as subjective opinions.
