Dr.Ceuracle 5Α Control No-Sebum Sun Lotion Review

It seems like every brand is releasing multiple SPF formulas this year, which is awesome because I see sun protection as the most important step in any skincare routine. I love testing sunscreens and telling people about them in the hopes that eventually everyone finds a formula they love.

Dr.Ceuracle 5Α Control No-Sebum Sun Lotion SPF50+ PA++++ is an all-mineral sunscreen with a watery texture and a floral scent, which doesn’t linger. It’s available on Oshen Skin (discount code KBHOBBIT10), along with other Dr.Ceuracle sunscreen formulas. The No-Sebum version promises a matte, powdery finish and lightweight texture. To see the other sunscreens I have in my review lineup, watch this unboxing reel.

How to use

  • Shake well before each use

  • Apply at the end of your routine before sun exposure

  • Reapply throughout the day as needed

  • Don’t forget your ears, neck, and the area around the eyes

The 5A in the title refers to a special complex to reduce excess sebum, improve the appearance of pores, control oil, hydrate, and prevent moisture loss. I personally don’t expect many skincare benefits from sunscreen (other than the main benefit of all - protection from photo aging and skin cancer), but these can be nice perks.

My impressions

I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and normal/dry everything else. My ideal sunscreen is light, not greasy and fairly matte (but without causing dryness). I spend a lot of time walking outside, so it also has to be easy to reapply without pilling, flaking, or looking oily.

Dr.Ceuracle 5A Control No-Sebum Sun Lotion hits almost all of those marks. I think “lotion” isn’t the right name for it - it should have been called “fluid” or “liquid” based on the runny consistency. It’s easy to spread and dries down almost instantly. I notice the tiniest amount of white cast, which tends to disappear after a few minutes. Of course, I’m very fair so I’m not sure how this will work on deeper skin tones. The feel is wonderful - not sticky but not drying or tight either. The only reason this isn’t absolute perfection is the dewier-than-I-prefer finish, which I easily fix with a thin dusting of translucent powder. It’s not a deal breaker for me and my face looks pleasantly matte the entire workday - no oil seeps through.

I apply Dr.Ceuracle Sun Lotion all over the face, neck, ears, chest, and around the eyes - none of those areas experience dryness or irritation. I’m not a daily makeup wearer, but it seems to perform fine under bb cream as well. I like that the formula uses both zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as filters, because occasionally brands use just one of them. I’m not a cosmetic chemist, but I think using both is supposed to be a little better when it comes to protecting the skin. Still, the absolutely best sunscreen is the one you use consistently and reapply, regardless of filters.

Dr.Ceuracle 5Α Control No-Sebum Sun Lotion on the skin

When it comes to protecting the body, I usually stick with UPF clothing since it’s reusable and fast, however it’s been really warm lately, so I avoid extra layers if possible. Dr.Ceuracle No-Sebum sun is perfect for hands and arms, because it leaves no visible residue and isn’t sticky. I can use it on my hands and then comfortably hold a stroller handle or a phone without making them messy.

Overall, this is wonderful, and the slight dewiness is not a huge deal to me. I also appreciate the packaging - the bright lid stands out in the sea of my skincare products, and the flat bottle is easy to slide into purse and backpack pockets. I will happily keep using this until it’s all gone and wouldn’t mind getting it again.
