My long-time readers may be wondering “why is Lucy reviewing men’s hair color? She’s not a man and her hair is red”. Well… Funny things happen when you get married and have kids. You sometimes turn into a chef, a maid, a driver / nurse / bedtime storyteller and even a hair color specialist. When my partner mentioned that he wanted to color his hair, I tried to talk him out of it (because it requires upkeep). I eventually gave up and offered to help. Maybe he will help me henna my hair next month…
DARIYA Salon de Pro Men’s Speedy Hair Color is available on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT) and promises a quick and easy way to conceal gray hair. My partner has naturally dark / black hair, but box dye in “black” is too intense and doesn’t look natural. So we get DARIYA in the color 6A Reddish Black Brown. To me, there’s absolutely nothing reddish about it at all. It’s mostly black, just less intense than “pure black” colors we tried from other brands.
How to use
Read all of the package instructions carefully
Dispense the two creams onto provided hair brush
Spread over dry hair, leave for 5 minutes
Rinse, shampoo, and rinse again

Pro tip - use the little included fine toothed comb to do the sideburns, otherwise you may miss some grays there like I did in the pictures. I have perfected my technique since then, so that’s no longer an issue.

DARIYA promised no harsh smells, which of course made me roll my eyes, because ALL hair colors always smell either like chemicals or like flowery chemicals. Shockingly, Salon De Pro actually doesn’t smell! What magic is this and why aren’t other brands doing the same?

My impressions
This is so easy! My spouse has short (ish) hair but it’s very thick. One box is enough for 2-3 applications. So far, we’ve gone through a whole box and have a new one ready to go for next time (he saw me writing the review just now and I guess we are doing his hair tonight). The color covers grays very well but doesn’t dye the scalp or the skin. At least not as much as US brands we’ve tried. I keep saying “we” in this article, because while it’s his hair, I’m the one doing the actual coloring. Lucky for me, the upkeep is also not bad. The color eventually washes out / grows out, but does so without leaving any harsh visible lines on the hair. It just sort of fades evenly, and eventually nothing is left and we see grays again. If you don’t want to keep up with regular applications, you won’t look like a striped zebra with multicolor hair.
I love that the creams are completely separate and resealable, making it very easy to use only the needed amount each time. Shockingly, the advertised five minutes are actually enough to deposit the color - again, WHAT MAGIC IS THIS?
Have I mentioned that it’s under $15 too? You just can’t go wrong with this product. I’ll be adding a box to my next YesStyle order.
