I’m sort of a veteran of Korean beauty, close to 5 years in, and yet I’m just now discovering the magic of CosRx. I had a product here and there in the past, but a few months ago I won a huge Best Sellers package in a giveaway. Now I’m taking my time slowly introducing each product into my routine.
Today’s review is for CosRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. It’s available basically everywhere:
YesStyle - reward code KBHOBBIT
iHerb - discount code CWN6107
Oshen Skin - discount code KBHOBBIT10
Stylevana - discount code INF10KBH
CosRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence features 96% snail secretion filtrate. It promises to plump, protect from water loss, smooth and revitalize the skin. According to the brand, the snail mucin is obtained in a snail-friendly way and the animals are not harmed. The product is cruelty free and made without artificial fragrance.
In addition to the snail filtrate, the essence contains 1,000 ppm sodium hyaluronate (also known as hyaluronic acid), panthenol, and allantoin. A full list of ingredients is provided at the end of the article.
How to use:
Apply to the face and neck after cleansing and toning
Gently pat in
Follow with a serum (if using) and moisturizer
Don’t forget SPF in the morning!
This essence is a clear, scent-free gel. It’s thick (but not too thick), so the pump dispenser is perfect. Most snail products I’ve tried have a certain slippery quality to them, and this is no exception. If used alone, it would likely dry sticky, but after moisturizer there is no stickiness left. I do not recommend letting toners and essences dry on the skin - lock them in with moisturizer while the skin is still moist for best results.
My impressions
I can see why this essence is so loved by skincare enthusiasts. I have combination skin that gets occasional redness and breakouts. CosRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence provides wonderful plumping and soothing effects. Not everyone’s skin does well with snail mucin, but mine definitely benefits. Actually, snail was one of the first points of interest that drew me to kbeauty almost 5 years ago - I remember people talked about that quite a bit, since it was a very new concept to most consumers here in the USA.
I reach for CosRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence any time my skin is feeling extra dry, gets irritated, or if I did something not-so-smart and picked a blemish. It’s a great product that never causes irritation, but plumps and heals the skin. Now that we are moving into Fall, I expect to use it even more often.
Overall, I’m very happy with it and will definitely continue using my bottle. If you want to experience a mucin product, but don’t want to slather snail ingredients on your skin for whatever reason, then look into Vegreen - they make wonderful vegan mucin skincare from yams and other plants - reviews here.
