I’m not a huge makeup user, especially on a daily basis, but powder and mascara are a must. Years ago, I tried Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder and fell in love. I went through two containers and wanted more, but it was suddenly out of stock everywhere. More recently, the compact came back but in a new packaging. Sometimes, new packaging is just that - a design change with no formula impact. And other times everything is different. I definitely worried that the brand messed this up…
The new version of Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder is available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), and Stylevana (code INF10KBH). Like before, it promises the smoothness of silk and the softness of marshmallows for your skin. The color I keep buying is ML Matte Light Ochre. Canmake powder absorbs sebum and prevents a shiny/oily appearance. It’s formulated with skin-loving ingredients such as squalane, aloe vera, and chamomile. A full list is provided at the end of the review.
How to use
Apply to desired areas using the included puff or a powder brush
When I travel, I use the puff, but most of the time prefer a separate powder brush. Canmake marshmallow goes on perfectly and makes my skin look matte without drying it out. The texture is something in between the dry US compact and a loose powder. It smoothes the skin, hides excess oil, and camouflages pores without drawing attention to dry, flakey areas.
My impressions
This is my third container of the Marshmallow powder and I love it just as much as I did the first time. I will keep purchasing this product as long as it’s sold. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and use powder most days. Canmake is perfect! It doesn’t settle into pores, the gentle mattifying effect lasts all day, and the finish really is like a marshmallow - soft, smooth, poreless. This is also my go-to after any SPF that’s too dewy for my liking - it fixes everything.
A note of caution - don’t drop the container. There’s something about this pressed powder that makes it more fragile than other products I’ve tried. It’s softer and easier to use - quite a bit comes off on the brush even with a light touch, which I like. However, it also means that dropping the package shatters the contents. My very first marshmallow compact was completely destroyed during shipping (hasn’t happened since, and I still used the crumbs). If you carry this in your purse, make sure you don’t drop it.
I’m struggling to find any negatives with this product. It is my forever perfect powder and I hope Canmake doesn’t discontinue it.
