Testing sunscreens is my favorite! I try to get my hands on as many as I can, because it’s the most important skincare step. If I can help a few people find formulas that they will consistently use, then this whole blogging thing is a success! I enjoy the Wishtrend family of products, so I had to try their first-ever sunscreen - By Wishtrend UV Defence Moist Cream. It’s available on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT) and Wishtrend (code LUCY15).
Like most By Wishtrend products, the Defense Moist Cream is vegan and cruelty free. It promises to protect against UVA, UVB, infrared radiation, and blue light and uses chemical filters. I won’t get into details about blue light, but it really sounds like it’s not a huge concern for most people based on derm and chemist produced content. By Wishtrend UV Defense Moist Cream is meant to replace moisturizer and sunscreen with one simple step.
How to use
Apply over exposed areas of skin at the end of your skincare routine
The texture is rich and creamy, with a dewy finish and no noticeable white cast (at least on me).
My impressions
This isn’t for me and I wouldn’t repurchase. When testing sunscreens, I try to consider various scenarios - with powder, without, under makeup, no makeup, etc. I started by using it according to my personal preference - applying SPF and then topping off with translucent powder. That worked ok. The formula is a bit too nourishing for my combination skin, and a little too dewy, but powder fixed most of that. If I had stopped my testing there, I would have said that I liked the moist cream but would use it in the dryer / colder months and not in the summer.
But I didn’t stop there. To have a well-rounded review, I also tested this product by itself, without any powder over it. And that, friends, was a horrible idea. I could feel it on my skin, even hours later. Any time I touched my face, I felt a greasy creamy film over it. Yikes! So, this isn't for me. I’m not interested in a formula that can only work under powder (and even with powder it feels kind of heavy for me). Someone with very dry skin will likely enjoy this.
I will use this up on the body (hopefully, it will be less greasy on my dry arms and legs) and won’t get it again. It’s not awful and I could have made it work if it were the only SPF available, but there are so many other wonderful options that look and feel much better on my skin.
