Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Rice Probiotics SPF50+ PA++++ is EVERYWHERE! I think the entire skincare community has either tried it or wants to try it, and of course I had to as well. The reviews are overwhelmingly positive, but I like to form my own opinions (which don’t always align with the general consensus). Mine came from Jolse (highly recommend you check out their selection and prices).
Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Rice Probiotics promises lightweight, no-white cast, quick absorbing broad range protection. It uses chemical filters and contains beneficial ingredients such as rice ferment, kelp, ginseng, and green tea. A full list is provided at the end of the review. The formula is cruelty free.
How to use
Apply at the end of your skincare routine (before makeup, if using)
Cover all areas exposed to the sun

The sunscreen comes in an easy to use tube and has the texture of light lotion. It dries down quickly into a natural finish - not too matte but not shiny either. I do not notice any smell, stickiness, or a white cast. It feels like my skin but better. Most mornings, especially during warm seasons, my morning routine is just a toner pad, vitamin C, and sunscreen. BoJ works well as both a moisturizer and SPF for me.
My impressions
Holy grail alert! I love how we went from needing to choose from one or two good sunscreens in a sea of subpar formulas to having so many amazing options! Just this year I’ve been loving both SKIN1004 formulas, Shiseido, DrCeuracle, and many others. Now I’m adding Beauty of Joseon to the list. And it has a leg up on many other formulas by being fragrance free. I’m not against fragrance and it doesn’t bother my skin, but I like having fragrance free options for people with sensitive skin. I hate it when people miss out on otherwise amazing products just because of fragrance.
I was a little worried that I wouldn’t like the finish, because I saw people online refer to this formula as very moisturizing and dewy. To me, it’s perfect. Yes, it’s in a moisturizer base (so are most SPFs), but it’s not heavy. The finish makes my skin look more glowy than it normally does, but it’s not shiny or dewy / wet-looking. I use powder over most sunscreens, but I skip it with this one - I like how my skin looks. For reference, I have combination skin with some oily and some dry areas.
I’m not a big makeup wearer, but I’ve tested this under makeup and had no issues (no pilling). I also apply all sunscreens around the eyes, ears, and neck / chest. Sometimes chemical filters can be more irritating to the eyes, but BoJ doesn’t bother mine. I have worked out / sweated in it and had no issues.
This will definitely be in my next monthly fails and faves video! I would have liked a larger tube, but that’s my complaint with most sunscreens. Either way, the sunscreen is amazing and I highly recommend it. Give it a try and see what all the hype is about.
