AXIS-Y is a newer but already dear to me brand of Korean skincare that uses high quality ingredients. What really stands out is the brand’s focus on the climate and its effects on the skin. Their 6+1+1 Advanced Formula skincare (611) was developed specifically for people with acne-prone, oily skin who live in a humid climate. 611 means 6 key / active ingredients, 1 core ingredient, and 1 patented technology.

I’ve been secretly testing it for a few weeks, before it was revealed to the public. AXIS-Y New Skin Resolution Gel Mask is a wash-off mask that contains calendula (soothes), fig (maintains moisture), madecassoside (helps with breakouts), allantoin (supports a healthy skin barrier), mugwort (great for redness), and yam root (helps with pigmentation). Niacinamide (2%) is the key ingredient. Niacinamide can help balance oil production, make the pores appear smaller, and improve the skin’s ability to produce its own ceramides.
The mask promises to deeply moisturize, calm irritation, and brighten the skin.
How to use:
Apply to clean skin
Leave on for 10-15 minutes
Rinse and follow with the rest of your routine
The mask has a gel consistency with little leafy inclusions (perfect for Texture Tuesday shots). There is a faint, pleasant smell, which probably comes from the botanical / essential oils in the ingredients. It doesn’t linger. The gel rinses off easily with water.
My impressions
I love wash-off masks. I have a little (ok, maybe a not so little) box next to the bathtub that holds all of my clay masks, cleansers, and now this wonderful AXIS-Y New Skin Resolution Gel Mask.
I’ve been using it twice a week. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and dry to normal everything else. I struggle with a bit of hyperpigmentation (freckles) and an occasional breakout. Since I’m fair, even looking at my skin wrong can cause redness. Pores are not of huge concern, however I would like them to appear smaller, especially on the nose and the cheek area close to the nose.
The mask is easy to apply - it glides onto the skin. I like to put it on while taking a nice bath and watching skincare videos on YouTube. I’ve noticed better skin texture (everything feels soft and smooth), calmed irritation, and my overall happiness levels are higher. That’s right, a huge benefit of skincare for me is improved mood. I’m excited to have AXIS-Y New Skin Resolution Gel Mask in my skincare arsenal. As far as pores, they do seem smaller. To truly appreciate the niacinamide effects, I will need to continue to use this mask, but my first impressions are very positive.
