Abib Hemp Seed Essence Activating Pump Review

This review contains affiliate links. I won this product in a giveaway.

Abib is a new to me brand. I won a wonderful package through Picky (highly recommend that app. Sign up here using invitation code 982961C6), and have had a great time getting to know the products. Watch the unboxing reel here.

The prize included four different essences - today’s review is about the hemp seed one.

Abib Hemp Seed Essence Activating Pump promises to deeply hydrate the skin. It’s available on YesStyle (use reward code KBHOBBIT for extra savings), eBay, Stylevana, and Amazon.

Hemp is known for its ability to moisturize without clogging pores. Hemp oil contains powerful antioxidants and fatty acids which can decrease inflammation and regulate oil production.

How to use:

  • Apply to clean skin after toner

  • Pat in to help with absorption

  • Follow with moisturizer (can add a serum before moisturizer)

The essence has a texture of thin gel and a scent I do not find particularly pleasant. Some people may enjoy the aroma, but to me it’s reminiscent of fennel (and I cannot stand the taste of fennel, so this brings up all kinds of negative associations). The good news is the scent doesn’t linger, so I’m willing to put up with it.

Despite having encapsulated hemp seed oil as the star ingredient, this essence is not oily or greasy.

My impressions

I wish I could evaluate this essence as a stand alone product and not as part of the wonderful gift set that I received. It’s not a bad product by any means, and it does make my skin nice and plump. However, I cannot help but compare it to the other essences from the set, and I like those essences more. Yuja is my favorite (review here).

I think this would work well for people with dehydrated or dry skin, especially if they are prone to redness. With that said, please review the ingredients - I spot some essential oils, which can be triggering for sensitive skin. My resilient combination skin has no problems with them. I wouldn’t change anything about this personally other than the scent.

I will continue using this until it is finished, but if I were to repurchase one, it would be the Yuja essence.

Have you tried any Abib products? I’m eyeing their sun stick.
