A’pieu Madecassoside Sun Cream Review

Updated: Mar 3, 2021

The A’pieu Madecassoside Sun Cream promises to repair and soothe the skin while protecting it from the sun with SPF 39 PA++. It’s designed for all skin types, especially sensitive and dehydrated ones, and contains only physical sunscreens (some people can have adverse reactions to chemical ones).

The product features both madecassoside and 40% centella asiatica extract. These components come from the same centella plant and have been proven to soothe irritated skin and help treat breakouts. It is sold on eBay and Amazon.

The cream comes in a tube with a twist off cap. Mine is the regular kind, but there's also the Autistar edition packaging which was designed by individuals on the autism spectrum. Both contain the same product.

How to use:

  • Apply at the end of your skincare routine, before makeup

  • More than one layer can be used for extra hydration and sun protection

My impressions:

I have combination skin with an oily t zone that’s extremely prone to pigmentation in the form of freckles.

I’m currently on maternity leave (which is shockingly short and basically unpaid in the USA, but that’s another topic), so I don’t wear much makeup. There are days that I stay inside the entire time. However, the saying “if you can see the sun, it can see you” is so true - one can suffer sun damage even indoors, especially with huge windows like we have. Plus, I’ve been known to take a fussy baby on spontaneous walks around the block, so sun protection is still very important. After all, I don’t want to “turn into a pumpkin” just because I had a baby.

I’ve been using the A’pieu Madecassoside Sun Cream nearly daily and I’m in love. It has a very pleasant light texture that gets absorbed very quickly by the skin. There’s no sticky or oily feeling, and no white cast. Even if I’m having a less than perfect skin day (hormonal breakouts are fun), I can still use it since it’s so soothing. I’m not surprised by the quality - I typically enjoy all Missha products, and A’pieu is a spin-off Missha brand.

I find the scent extra enjoyable - it’s light and slightly citrusy and perks me up right away. Mornings with a new baby are hard, because nights are often so long, so any kind of energy boost is always welcome.

While I wouldn’t necessarily use this cream as the only means of SPF on a beach day, it works just fine in my daily life. It really does combine functions of a soothing cream and sun protection so well in one delightful tube.
