If you’ve read my blog, you have noticed that the vast majority of reviews are about skincare and not decorative makeup. On one side, it’s because I’m a strong believer in healthy skin being beautiful with minimal “intervention” from makeup, and on the other I’m just plain too lazy to do much to my face in the morning (other than layer on skincare).
However, lately I’ve been venturing a bit into the world of lip tints and lipsticks, because it’s a quick and easy way to look a bit more put together. One of the things I grabbed is The Saem Saemmul Mousse Candy Tint in Grapefruit.
The mousse tint comes in an adorable candy-inspired packaging and is available on eBay, Amazon, Jolse and YesStyle. I didn’t have high hopes, especially after my epic Peripera fail (read about that here), but ended up absolutely loving this little tube!
The product is creamy and very pleasant during application. The brush size and shape are nothing out of the ordinary and work well. There’s no taste and a slightly fruity/candy smell that’s not overwhelming. The top creamy layer eventually wears off and imprints slightly on my coffee mug, but the tint color lasts quite well even after drinking and eating. If you don’t feel like touching up at all, rest assured that the entire color slowly and evenly fades during the day, leaving you looking natural and not at all splotchy. I really hate when lipsticks wear off unevenly, forcing touch ups or removal. This one doesn’t do that.
I have dry lips that love to crack. This tint isn’t particularly hydrating or moisturizing, but the mousse consistency helps hide any small imperfections in the skin like chapped patches. It also doesn’t dry out or irritate the lips further, which is a huge plus for me.
Verdict - I LOVE this. The series has a watery and gel varieties too. I do own one color of the watery tint but will write about that later (spoiler alert - it’s NOT that great).
Update in March 2019: I love this product SO MUCH that I ended up buying it in another color - Chaitea
