Goodal Green Tangerine Moist Cleansing Foam Review

Cleansing is the one step I never skip (ok, ok, except for my husband’s holiday work party in 2017, the open bar got me and I went to bed with full makeup and hair…). But on a normal day, I cleanse no matter how tired I am.

If you aren’t familiar with the Korean beauty way of cleansing, the typical routine is to first use an oil cleanser to dissolve makeup and sunscreen, and then use a foaming cleanser to wash off everything else, including the cleansing oil residue, if any. I’ve had great luck with cleansing oils (reviews here), but foams are a bit trickier. I look for something that’s both effective and gentle - I want a good cleanse without a compromised skin barrier or a “stripped”, dry feeling.

I picked up the Goodal Green Tangerine Moist Cleansing Foam a few months ago. The “moist” in the title caught my attention. The product description also recommended this foam for combination skin, which is exactly what I have. It’s available on eBay, Amazon, and Cosmetic Love.

The foam promises to:

  • Keep the skin hydrated

  • Revitalize dull and tired skin

  • Help repair dry and rough areas

I wasn’t aware of green tangerines before this product. They are harvested in the pure Jeju island and are full of bioflavonoids. Bioflavonoids protect the skin from free radical damage, and vitamin C naturally present in green tangerines stimulates collagen production for a firm, youthful-looking skin.

Green tangerines are harvested in mid-summer, washed with triple filtered water, then soaked in cool water for up to 72 hours. This process creates special antioxidant water that’s full of the tangerines’ vitamins. Goodal Green Tangerine Moist Cleansing Foam also contains extracts of green tea, aloe, tomato, and apple for a healthy complexion.

How to use:

  1. Squeeze a small amount into your palm, add a bit of water and work into a lather

  2. Gently massage the face, avoiding eyes and lips

  3. Rinse with water

  4. Follow with the rest of your routine

Note - if using in the evening, start with a cleansing oil to remove makeup and sunscreen first.

My impressions:

I am enjoying this cleanser - it’s definitely effective but doesn’t dry out the skin. The smell is very pleasant. I think it’s supposed to smell like green tangerines, but since I’ve never seen a real one in person, I will have to trust the manufacturer. The scent is definitely citrus-based and mild. The product foams much better than what I was able to photograph - it’s hard to lather something and then take pictures since I only have two hands and getting soap all over the camera isn’t exactly ideal… But I tried my best. You can always use a bubble maker like this one to create thicker foam. I mostly use Goodal Green Tangerine Moist Cleansing Foam in the evenings, simply because I keep it in the guest bathroom and that’s where I like to take my nightly baths. It works just fine as a morning cleanser.

Despite the amazing marketing claims of “deep hydration”, providing moisture shouldn’t be the cleanser’s job. It’s good enough for me that it doesn’t strip or dry my skin. For actual hydration, there are toners, serums and lotions. This cleanser works wonderfully at removing dirt and makeup residue. And the price is more than pleasant for a 170ml bottle.
