I dream of lush, curly red hair that goes below my waist and makes huge, beautiful braids. And what do I have instead? Fine, thin, blonde hair just below my shoulders. Ah, such is life, and we don’t always get what we want. I’ve struggled with trying to get my hair to behave my whole life.
Since curls are clearly not in my future (I’ve had a couple of failed perms and I’m not motivated enough to use curling wands daily), I at least want it long and red. Red is easily achieved with monthly henna applications. The “long” part is trickier. Fine, thin hair likes to knot, tangle, and break. After lots of research (also known as “googling” haha), I found that long haired people use a term called “slip” to describe how easily hair slides/untangles. You want lots of slip, especially when the hair is wet, to make sure it doesn’t break. How does one achieve this magical “slip”?
Korean beauty has us covered - enter La’dor Silk Ring Hair Essence, available on eBay and sometimes Amazon. It’s a fairly thick, clear liquid that nourishes and protects the strands. The essence contains nourishing oils such as olive, jojoba, and argan, along with hydrolyzed silk.
How to use:
Apply to clean, towel-dried hair (I put a drop in my hand, rub the palms together and run them through the hair from ear-level to the ends)
Style as usual (I mostly let mine air dry)

This was my first La’dor product and I instantly fell in love with it. Even though I use it regularly, the 160ml bottle is still not even half empty. I wash hair every other day or even every three days, and the Silk Ring essence doesn’t make it oily or greasy. The smell is divine - very delicate, a bit floral, and “expensive”. I’m not great at describing smells, so just know that it’s very, very pleasant.
Since my hair is so fine, I comb it both before and after washing. Combing before makes sure it doesn’t knot too much in the shower, and combing after is sadly necessary to avoid kinks. The La’dor Silk Ring Hair Essence makes my tangle teezer brush or wet brush glide right through the hair, instantly getting rid of knots and kinks without any tears or breaks.
