MISSHA Super Aqua Peeling Gel Review

Updated: Nov 9, 2020

Good exfoliation is so important - if the dead cells and product buildup is allowed to sit on the skin, it interferes with the effectiveness of your entire routine and can make the skin look dull and uneven. Back in my teenage years, I relied on physical exfoliation like scrubs, but that can be a bit too rough on sensitive skin. These days, the world of Korean beauty and skincare has given us peeling gels - products that gently yet effectively dissolve and remove all impurities for a clear, smooth complexion.

My latest peeling gel is MISSHA Super Aqua Peeling Gel, available on* eBay and Amazon. The exfoliating action in this product is based on fruit extracts of papaya and orange plus the gentle yet effective lactic acid (derived from milk). The gel also contains caffeine and green tea to refresh the most tired looking skin. I have combination skin, but this gel should work for all skin types. MISSHA does make a green "mild" version for those who want something even more gentle (I haven't tried it).

How to use:

  • Apply a small amount to dry, clean skin with dry hands (avoid eyes and lips)

  • Gently massage in circular motions. You will feel the product pill into small beads as it works its magic

  • Rinse off with water and continue with your regular routine (toner, essence, etc)

  • Use 1-2 times a week, as needed

My impressions:

Instant love. I appreciate everything from the sleek looking packaging to the high end scent and the amazing results. The gel isn’t harsh at all but is very effective. My skin feels very soft and smooth but not stripped or dry afterwards. As expected, the rest of my routine soaks in beautifully. I typically use peeling gels (reviews here) once a week and peeling pads (review of the current ones here) for the second time, but you can stick with just gel if that’s your preference. It only takes a small US dime-sized amount of product for my entire face, so I anticipate this bottle lasting me for months.

I still remember the sense of “WOW” after using my very first Korean peeling gel, and two years later that feeling still has not gone away. I absolutely love completely smooth, clean skin, and no other product category can provide that.
